This is an amazing tour, must see! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, the weather was perfect, and the sites were exceptional. Be prepared for a lot of stairs.

My family was delighted to engage Christos for our visit to Meteora Monasteries. Despite the very foggy weather, we had a great time with Christos, he is knowledgeable and provide us with lots of histories and insights of the places. He also did excellent photo shots for us. Will definitely catch up with him again when we go back to Kalambaka.

Amazing! Could not recommend more. Our guide Margarita was very knowledgable and helped with all the questions we had. The tour itself is amazing, 3 euro entry per mine status is definitely worth it.
A note for the ladies however you need to wear a skirt or dress that’s below the knees trousers do NOT count you will be asked to wear a cover up skirt if you do. Margarita brought cover ups for those who needed them which was very helpful.

This tour was the high point of our visit to Greece. Our amazing guide Vangelis Keralis was able to perfectly tailor the six-hour tour to our needs. He was on time and didn't stint on anything. We saw many interesting things in addition to the monasteries and learned a great deal about geology, history, the Greek Orthodox church and even where to find a fantastic lunch in Kalambaka. If Vangelis is available I strongly suggest you ask for him as your guide.

We had a really great 6 hour private tour of the monasteries with Kris. He is a wealth of information and extremely personable. I considered cancelling the tour because upon arrival in town, I thought "I can do this tour myself," but I am so glad I didn't cancel. Our group learned so much from Kris and he added so much to our visit of your gorgeous area. Thank you Visit Meteora Travel and Kris for a wonderful and most memorable day.

It is so worth to book a private toor. We had a very fun and knowledgeable tour guide, he told us a lot of interesting facts and stories about Meteora, made our day unique! I would definitely recommend to have your own tour guide (if you want to have relaxed day and visit all monasteries).

Amazing trip! Driver was on time, personable and provided a comfortable Mercedes van for 6 of us. After a scenic drive from Volos Port to Meteora we added our guide George to the mix. Fabulous day spent with a knowledgable local guide. These monasteries are so beautiful and a stop not to be missed in Greece. Visit Meteora and their driver and guides went way beyond our expectations. FABULOUS

What an amazing experience! We actually used them for transfer from Volos, then for 2 tours the next day, and the following day for transfer to Athens (with a stop in Delphi along the way).
They van was clean, the drivers were beyond educational (and fun too) and using Visit Meteora made the trip considerably more enjoyable!
I cannot say enough about their professionalism and I highly, highly recommend!

I am glad that we booked this day tour to Meteora. Hotel Pick up was on time and we were greeted by our driver Mr. Alexandros who was an exceptional person and ready to go out of his way to meet our requirements. The drive was smooth and had time to stop for refreshments and needs. He took us to the right spots to enjoy/photography of the beautiful scenery and gave us plenty of time to visit the Monasteries. We also had time for a good tasty Greek lunch at Kalambaka before driving back to Athens. I highly recommend this Private day Tour to Meteora.

Can warmly recommend a private tour. Our guide (kudos, Jim) was very knowledgeable and he generously shared interesting facts and information about the monasteries as well as the area in general, which really added value to the experience. We (2 ppl) were driven a round in a brand new, clean and comfortable Volvo SUV, so nothing to complain about there.
So, basically: even though you might find the price tag a bit hefty, I'd warmly recommend a private tour. For the higher flexibility (you get a better opportunity to decide which monasteries to go to), for not having to spend a lot of times searching for parking spots, but mainly for the better opportunity to interact with the guide, to ask questions, for facts and anecdotes, etc. This will certainly boost your Meteora experience.
So, basically: even though you might find the price tag a bit hefty, I'd warmly recommend a private tour. For the higher flexibility (you get a better opportunity to decide which monasteries to go to), for not having to spend a lot of times searching for parking spots, but mainly for the better opportunity to interact with the guide, to ask questions, for facts and anecdotes, etc. This will certainly boost your Meteora experience.

I plan to drive from Athens to Meteora on 18 August 2019 and stay in the Meteora region for three nights, returning to Athens on 21 August 2019. I would like to schedule a guide (without a car maybe) for a private tour of the monasteries on 19 August 2019.
