Wonderful Raisin Trip in beautiful Axarquia
On 29th September, I took the Raisin Tour with Ole Trips. We visited an Andalusian cortijo owned by the lovely Mano and Mari. We saw a traditional raisin production system - which was very interesting to see and learn about all the hard work which goes into the production of the raisins. Next we stopped in Almáchar, and visited the Museo de la Pasa (Museum of the Raisin). We then headed to El Borge, another beautiful town and had lunch in the Posada del Bandolero. Our final stop was Moclinejo. It really was a fantastic day out, it was very interesting to learn about the raisin route as well as visiting lots of beautiful places. I also met some lovely people on the trip. Thank you Ole Trips and Cipriano for a wonderful experience. Fantastic day out!

In the true heart of Mouscatel grape and raisin area

Friday 30.10 my wife and I took part in a guided tour to the famous mouscatel and raisin areas in Axarquia. The first stop on the trip that Cipriano a very nice and knowledgeable guide took us to was to Manuel and Mari, a farming couple who have their area on the outskirts of Almachar.
All farmers who harvest raisins have no mechanical aids, so does Manuel.
These farmers are called heroes because of the hard work they do on the steepest slopes. Manuel's eyes lit up when he told about his work and he showed how to use scissors to cut off each individual dried grape from the bunch of grapes.
Next time I buy mouscatel raisins I think each raisin is cut individually and perhaps by Manuel.
The next stop was the town of Almachar where the raisins from farmers were sorted and packaged for onward deliveries to various buyers. Here is the only machine, the sorting machine, in the entire raisin production.
Lunch was taken in the town of el Borge, the town's hotel which housed a restaurant frequented by the bandit El Bizco de El Borge in the 19th century.
I leave other activities to others to deal with.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this trip. Sr. Cipriano is super guide!!

Eine sehr interessante Tour mit vielen insider Informationen und man hat Einblick in den ganzen Prozess rund um die Rosinen. Auch wer keine Rosinen mag wird danach ein Fan :)!
Cipriano beantwortet kompetent alle Fragen, spricht viele Sprachen und plant die Tour kurzweilig und interessant. Vielen Dank für den super Service mit Abholung bei uns vor Ort!

Ein wunderschöner Tag in der Axarquía
Der Ausflug in die Rosinendörfer ist der Hammer. Für Besucher mit Interesse für andalusische Kultur und Tradition ein muss. Cipriano ist ein sehr professioneller Guide, und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Wir können diese Tour unbedingt empfehlen! Der Tag ist sehr gut organisiert, der Reiseleiter von Oletrips sehr freundlich und die Informationen wirklich interessant. Der Besuch bei einem Bauern auf dem Land, der mit viel Mühe und Liebe zur Tradition die Rosinen herstellt, war schon etwas besonderes. Wie immer sorgte Oletrips für ein tolles Erlebnis! Ein abwechslungsreicher Tag mit gutem Essen, der lange in guter Erinnerung bleiben wird.

Eine tolle Tour auf abenteuerlichen Pfaden. Die Tour ist sehr informativ und wird durch ein leckeres Essen in einem Hotel mit besonderer Geschichte gekrönt. Uns hat es sehr gefallen.

La tradición de la uva pasa moscatel
Esta ruta es ideal para conocer la tradición de la uva pasa moscatel en la zona. Visitamos un cortijo típico con toldos paseros, donde sus dueños y Cipriano, nuestro guía, nos enseñaron cómo se obtiene la pasa moscatel desde su recogida hasta que el producto está listo. También nos llevó a dos pueblos del interior de la comarca de la Axarquía que aún mantienen esta tradición y muchos de sus habitantes se dedican a ella.
Sin duda una ruta ideal si quieres conocer en profundidad las costumbres de esta comarca.
Cipriano es un guía excepcional y tiene unos conocimientos muy profundos de la historia y tradiciones de su tierra, se nota que siente pasión por ella.
Sin duda repetiremos.

Quizás toda la explicación sobre las pasas y su cultivo. Me pareció muy interesante.
La visita al pueblo de Borge fué muy instructiva. Y sobre todo el cariño con que Cipriano trata a sus clientes.

Today I went on the Raisin Tour with a couple of friends, the tour guide and one other. We visited the raisin terraces and was told how raisins are produced. I now understand how difficult the whole process is. We visited the raisin museum and church in Almáchar.
I particularly loved El Borge a small Andalusian village with a beautiful church. The Town Council even turned on the fountain for our arrival! The included lunch was delicious. Very relaxed tour with a great tour guide.

Raisin Route
Well worth doing this tour as an alternative day out. We enjoyed the day learning about the Raisins, the history of farming and visiting the towns that are proud to be a part of the Raisin and Muscat wine heritage. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour relaxed and enjoyable.
