We arranged this tour, on our own, off a cruise ship. It wasn't quite what we expected, but we enjoyed our day.
We thought the meeting point was right off the ship, but through the assistance of the local merchants, we learned we had to take a taxi ride to the bay. We found it somewhat pricey considering it is a 15 minute drive, but it is worth the time and the expense. Alex called for taxis for those who needed rides back to town.
It was a perfect day, not too hot and not too cold. Waterproof bags were provided to protect your belongings. Sadly the tour was unable to go onto the island, and you can't get very close. Alex stopped in the water frequently and explained the history of the area. I was fascinated by the protective walls that were built hundreds of years ago, and they still stand. Due to the strong current in a bay, where we were to make our first stop, we ended up paddling longer than expected before taking a break. Make sure you use the bathroom before you start out, and eat a good breakfast, if you are going out in the morning. We eventually stopped for a short break, and had homemade bread and watermelon. I did end up with some pretty sore arms that night, so make sure to take an ibuprofen, if you aren't used to kayaking for 4 hours.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we really enjoyed ourselves. We highly recommend the trip.

This was an incredible trip! Alex is such a knowledgeable and engaging guide. We learned so much about the area, and had a blast doing it. It was the highlight of our trip. We definately recommend it!

I have done many of the “adventure oriented” tours in my life that I have really enjoyed, but I consider this one the absolute best I have ever been on. While paddling on the pristine blue water of the bay, our guide, Alex, brought the history to life. He put us in the shoes of people invading and defending Nafplion over hundreds of years and connected everything to the features we could see right from our kayaks. Alex is also very personable, willing to answer any questions about anything relating to Greece and Greek history. We love history, so he indulged us with even more historical and political discussion than he said he usually does. Moreover, the snack break at the beach is an absolutely charming way to spend some time in the beautiful bay. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, and I am so grateful for how Alex enriched our time in Nafplion. I was deciding between a few options, and I’m so glad we chose to do this. Do yourself a favor and book now!

History should absolutely be taught from the sea, in a kayak, by someone like Alex. He has a way of making history come alive in his stories. He’s so knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Kayaking with him in the sea was absolutely gorgeous. Took a break on the beach to snorkel. Alex provided snacks, including homemade orange bread. Delicious. Thank you, Alex, for a wonderful morning. 100% recommend.

My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a sea kayak tour with PanExpeditions. Alex, our tour guide was wonderful. He started the tour with a great explanation of how to use the kayak correctly, went over safety instructions and then we were off on our tour. His knowledge of history of Nafplio and the historic sites was very impressive. He was very engaging and took the time to answers any questions we had about what we were seeing. As far as the actual tour, seeing the coast from a kayak was breathtaking and a completely different experience than seeing it from land. We kayaked close the castles and stone wall that guarded the city and viewed it from the prospective of attacking pirates/enemy invaders all while Alex was giving us the historical facts. Alex also brought us to small private beach along the coast where he prepared refreshments and snacks that included a delicious orange cake that was prepared by his mother. The tour was a 10 out of 10 and I highly recommend this sea kayak tour and Alex our tour guide.

A different and fascinating way to see Nafplion. Alex is an engaging and informative tour guide. Good tips on basic kayaking technique at the start and plenty of support throughout the trip if you needed it (which we didn’t, just sayin). Gives you a real perspective of what successive invaders faced when trying to take this strategic city. Nice stop for home made orange cake, fruit and a snorkel. Alex has all the equipment including snorkels and the waterproof camera. Fantastic day!

This was a truly incredible experience for our family. We loved kayaking around the coast- seeing Nafplio and learning about its history in a unique way. Alex was very friendly and experienced- excellent at both guiding the kayaking and also sharing Greek history in an engaging way for both adults and children. Would absolutely recommend!

How long is this tour in total? My husband and I will be visiting your island on Sun. August 4th on a Windstar cruise. Boat arrives 8am and departs 5pm.

It was about 4 1/2 hours you have plenty of time! Our ship was in port from 8-4 and even had time to go eat lunch at a place in town that they recommended!
