Excellent experience. Equipment was all in good shape. Clay was a great instructor! Explained things well and gave great tips. We had such a fun time. Cannot recommend a lesson with Kapowui enough! We will be back!

My friend and I had Liam as our instructor this past Saturday. Liam is awesome, super energetic, and friendly. He gave us a great introduction to surfing, made sure we had the basics down, and gave us the opportunity to grow comfortable in the water. Liam's excitement for surfing is contagious and we cannot recommend him enough. Thanks so much man!

Great surf lesson for a mixed aged group (12, 14, 45) in a lovely spot, within walking distance of Santa Monica. The supplied wet-suits were definitely needed though!

my two day -two lessons experience was just average. 1st day with Nick was excellent. 2nd day with Pat was disappointed. I found them based on reviews. Maybe will find other lesson next time.

Lemei, I'm sorry you feel this way. FYI, all of my instructors are professionals and the best of the best and give 100% every lesson. Perhaps the conditions were not as good on the 2nd day and you think it was the instructor. Or perhaps you expected the instructors to act the same, or Pat wasn't as cute as Nick, or Pat didn't engage with you the same, there are a million reasons it could be, ( tide was higher, waves were bigger or smaller, you were tired, no sun, to sunny, you or the instructor was having a bad day, etc, etc,etc.....) but I'm not sure because you didn't specify why you were not happy with Pat. Thank you for you business.
I do suggest you find another company in the future. I find when someone has what they perceive as a bad experience or service they come back with a bias, almost as if they are looking for any reason not to have fun or to confirm their "disappointment" as you put it and inevitably have a worse time, and I would not want to put you or my instructor through that.
Have a blessed life and all of us at the Kapowui family hope you keep surfing.

These ladies and gents are the real deal! Took my first lesson a month ago and came back for my second last weekend. Their instructors are equal parts knowledgable, fun, approachable and supportive -- no matter what prior experience you do or don't have. Surfing can be intimidating but the Kapowui team makes you feel welcome and comfortable every step of the way. Excited to continue my surf journey with them!

As people who are newer to surfing, my sister and I had the best time and felt so taken care of by our surf instructor, Liam! The water was pretty rough and yet we still felt so safe and supported out there to improve and catch tons of waves. I'd recommend Kapowui to anyone who's looking to get trained in the fundamentals and supported to work on their skills to be independent.. or honestly, just for a really fun time!!

I signed up for 3 lessons. I was paired with Liam. I had surfed one time when I was a teenager, but I knew nothing about the board, feet location, and most importantly the “pop-up”!! Liam is a great teacher and he went through the fundamentals and also talked a lot about the sea, tides, waves. On my first lesson I was able to catch multiple waves with Liam positioning me and pushing me. I did the pop-up and rode the waves to the shore. On the second lesson, Liam went over the fundamentals again, and we spent more time in the water. His guidance gave me the courage to paddle and catch the waves, I lost count on how many times I was able to get up, but I did have three amazing rides. Needless to say, I got bit by the surfing bug. I have my 3rd lesson already booked!! I highly recommend Kapowui Surf Lessons!!! So grateful I did this for me!!
