A fantastic mystery wine tour with food pairings! Our guide, Aylmar, was excellent - extremely knowledgeable about wine and South Africa in general. We really recommend this tour & would do it again if we’re back in Franschhoek.

The guide (Aylmer) was particularly tuned to our specific interests -- he selected wineries and sought particular varietals based on what we had liked and discussed. He had us taste in combination with salt and cheeses, etc to bring out the individual wines' best characteristics. We have tasted wines on all six wine growing continents, and Aylmar gave us the best experience that we have ever had.

Absolutely wonderful and enlightening experience. Our tour guide Aylmer was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. We learned so much about not only the wine but the local area and culture! Would recommend to anyone. The tastings and pairings themselves were top notch - could not have asked for better selections. Aylmer was insightful on how to enjoy wine based on your own palate, and you will no doubt find some flavors you love throughout the day!

Really fun and informative day. Our guide Aylmer was highly knowledgeable and very friendly. He took us to a great selection of wineries (including one stunner that I won't post a photo of just because it's nice to be surprised!). We also had a really nice lunch stop with beautiful views.

Best wine tour ever. This company never had less than 5 stars and I can see why. Everything was perfect from the moment I sent the enquiry, where Johan responded within minutes, very clear and detailed. Danielle arrived a couple of minutes early to pick us up from our accommodation, she found first out from us what our interests where and which wines we like. From then on it only got better. Small wineries where there were not a lot of people, (unlike the winetram in Franschhoek where social distancing is impossible).
It was really an incredible day and we will definitely book again next year when we come to Franschhoek again.
The price is really great for what you get.
Wine and biltong tasting at Alto was super!
We were sad when the day ended, Danielle is really great fun and very knowledgable.
Also Vineyard Hopper is highly recommended, it is like a hop-on hop-off only you decide yourself where you go and when, you send a whatsapp message to the reservations number and the chauffeur will be there on the time you ask for and bring you to wherever you want to go. Excellent way of seeing the non-commercial vineyards and beer breweries.

If you are planning to do any wine tours in Franschhoek or Stellenbosch, I can only recommend La Rochelle Tours with Danelle. She absolutelly was spot on on what we liked, asked questions in the morning and from there she decided where we would go for tasting. As we don't like the big commercial wine estates, we didn't book the Winetram. Absolutely horrifying, so many people.
So we were lucky and we were the only ones on the tour, which can take normally up to 8 people I believe. Danelle is absolute fun, she explains very good and lets you snif before you taste. We did learn a lot, and not in a boring way.
Can recommend this company to anyone who likes personal and being listened to.

We did the full day mystery tour with pickup from Camps Bay in Cape Town to visit Franschoek and Stellenbosch. Alymer was our guide. Alymer showed up early, had a smile on his face from the start, and was accommodative our entire trip. We had a blast learning about the various vineyards visited and South African history.
The wine and the food selected by Alymer were top notch. His humor kept us laughing the whole day. We would recommend this tour 10 times out of 10. After spending time In Franshoek and Stellenbosch we would probably recommend spending more time in Stellenbosch for first time visitors. The town is slightly larger with more restaurants and shops to peruse.

Danélle, our La Rochelle wine guide, lead my wife and I on a fantastic journey through the incomparable wine country of Franschhoek. While we love wine, neither of us has spent the time to really understand it the way a true connoisseur would. As a result, we were hoping to get educated while exploring Franschhoek's beautiful wineries. Danélle and La Rochelle were a perfect fit for us. She was incredibly knowledgeable and able to share her knowledge with us in a way that we could easily grasp. She took us to beautiful vineyards with great wines and fantastic food. We were well received at every winery and her connection and familiarity with the staff seemed to benefit us greatly. She talked us through each of the wines and explained the nuances and personalities of each in a way that made sense to us. She was funny and entertaining and, at the end of the day, we found that we had not only had a great time and learned a lot, but we had made a friend. We highly recommend La Rochelle to anyone looking for a great day in the vineyards of Franschhoek!

We had a great day touring the Franschhoek wineries. The value was excellent and the pours were outrageously generous. Great day and highly recommend.
We also used La Rochelle tours for airport and Cape Town transfers...would definitely use them again.

The best wine tour i have ever been on (and i have been on a few!). Danelle is the perfect guide to this beautiful area. Her knowledge is encyclopedic - on the wine, the region, the history....everything. She was great company throughout the day. I'm not sure we were supposed to be out so long(!), but at no time did Danelle rush. I will definitely be back for more. Thanks Danelle.

This tour sounds great but appears to rely on having the incredible guides Danielle or Dee. As we are still planning our 2 days in Franschoek we wondered if we booked for 1st or 2nd August 2019 we would have either guide at that time and if we wanted to do a full day tour could we be picked up and dropped back at the Akademie Street Boutique Hotel.
