Fantastic trip into the park. Saw lemurs and pythons among the wild life. Our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Travelled by tuktuk and canoe, which we waded out to.
Arranged this with Tantely over email while on our way on the cruise. She was there to meet us when we landed.
The trip duration is negotiable so fitted in easily with our cruise departure.

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip (once we managed to get off the ship) but we were met by Dino straight away and because we were late we had to get a tuk-tuk to the boat area which is a nice 25 minute ride from the city into the countryside.
once arrived it was a few minutes walk across the mud flats to the boat where we picked up another guide and his aid (sorry cant remember their names) and commenced the paddle to the reserve (about 25 mins). you can help with the paddling, which I did, or sit back and view the scenery (I seen a sea turtle) like my wife did.
Once at the reserve the guide takes you into the forest and explains the fauna and creatures around including lemurs, chameleons, snakes, owls etc. The guide brings them to you and points them out which is a lovely experience.
Then its back on the boat to paddle back for lunch in the village restaurant which was excellent - a full barracuda fish, prawn & zebu skewers, coconut rice and Madagascan potatoes - delicious.
Then off on the tuk tuk back to the ship but allowing time to wander through the market. Yemaya met us on the way back to confirm everything was ok - a nice touch.
A few notes - wear decent shoes for wet/mud/hills. Take plenty of change/money for locals goods and tips. Don't worry if you feel you a little intimidated by the surroundings - just enjoy the ride

La guida che ci ha accompagnato, insieme a Patrizio, ha scovato anche gli animali più piccoli, impercettibili, quelli più nascosti. È stata davvero una gran bella esperienza.

La piroga scivola silenziosa e veloce nell’acqua come un filo d’olio, stabile nonostante la sua esile struttura in legno.
Abbiamo provato a pagaiare anche noi e ci siamo accorti di quanto sia difficile tenere il ritmo.
Durante la traversata abbiamo attraversato le mangrovie e osservato spiagge deserte, ammirato le palme sulle spiaggia e ci siamo accorti che eravamo in prossimità della riserva quando abbiamo incominciato a intravedere i primi alberi selvaggi della foresta.
Raggiungibile solo via mare appare in un silenzio irreale rotto solo dai versi dei lemuri.
Scendiamo dalle piroghe in una spiaggia popolata solo da qualche bambino e ci incamminiamo verso il villaggio dei pescatori, guidato dal capo tribale.
Qui posiamo i nostri zaini e attendiamo la guida che ci porterà all’interno del villaggio e poi all’ingresso della riserva.
Durante la nostra camminata all’interno del parco, non facile per le molteplici varietà di palme erami che ostacolano il nostro cammino, abbiamo cercato di scorgere tantissimi specie di animali, che si prendevano gioco di noi mimetizzandosi tra la vegetazione.
Siamo riusciti a vedere qualche bellissimo camaleonte, aiutati dalle guide.
Per i non esperti del luogo, questo animale è impossibile da vedere perché è perfettamente integrato con la natura stessa.
Poi attirati dalla guida siamo riusciti a interagire con i lemuri neri, che rappresenta una delle specie più rare del mondo animale.
Altri tipi di lemuri come quelli notturni e quello macaco sonnecchiavano tranquillamente in mezzo ai tronchi degli alberi neanche minimamente disturbati dalla nostra presenza.
Altri animali che abbiamo trovato sul nostro cammino sono un serpente gigantesco su un albero, dei bellissimi uccelli del paradiso e il camaleonte più piccolo del mondo che ho personalmente preso sul palmo della mano.
Inoltre siamo riusciti a fotografare dei gechi, un gigantesco ragno mentre per il mondo floreale abbiamo trovato alberi di ebano, buganvilles, banani , ficus e la palma del viaggiatore,usata per costruire le capanne dei villaggi.
E’ stato faticoso camminare all’interno della foresta, ma è stata un’esperienza unica e meravigliosa.
All’uscita della riserva abbiamo visitato il villaggio, visto le loro abitazioni e dato un’occhiata alle attività che fanno durante la loro giornata.

Wir wurden nicht am Hafen abgeholt, Anruf bei der Agentur, die wussten nichts von uns, obwohl alles bereits bezahlt und bestaetigt war. Haben gesagt sie schicken jemanden um uns abzuholen. Nach ueber einer Stunde umhertelefonieren wurden wir von einem Guide abgeholt und an die Bootsanlegestelle gebracht, uns wurde aber nicht gesagt, dass das ein ganz anderer Ausflug ist. Anstatt ins Lakobe Reserve sind wir mit einem sehr lautem, unbequemen Boot, ohne sich anlehnen zu koennen, 1 1/2 Stunden zu einer Badeinsel gefahren, auf dem Rueckweg haben wir noch 10 Minuten Stop auf einer Lemuren Insel gemacht, Rueckfahrt zum Schiff wieder 1 1/2 Stunden mit dem Boot (und das mit einem 4-jaehrigen Kind). Wir waren wirklich sehr enttaeuscht, vor allem weil wir nur einen Tag dort waren. Der Guide war dafuer sehr gut, das Mittagessen auch, die Badeinsel war an sich auch sehr schoen, aber wir sind nun mal keine Badetouristen und wollen was erleben.

I am Tantely RAFIDISON, the manager of Yemaya Voyage. I just called you on your phone but I couldn't get you.
I have just asked my employees what really happened on January 17th, because I was at a tourism fair in Vienna when it happened.
We received a reservation for 2 people in Nosy Iranja on January 10th.
And a reservation for 2 adults and 1 child on January 17th for the Lokobe Reserve excursion.
The two phone numbers for the reservation seemed to be identical.
The clients for Nosy Iranja did not come, we waited for them on January 10th with the sign at the port until 10.30 am. On January 17, when you came, my team thought you were the customers who didn't come, and that's why they sent you to Nosy Iranja. I'm sorry if they didn't take the time to ask you for the excursion you were supposed to do.
Please note that during the cruise days, our team is on site from 7am to prepare the welcome, we print signs with your names in large to facilitate the reception. I'm sorry you couldn't see the sign. This is the first time we've had this kind of problem. And I'm sorry it's happening to you. We'll try to give more directions to make it easier for our next customers to find each other.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I really understand that Nosy Iranja and Lokobe Reserve is not the same kind of excursions.
I'm currently in Germany. We can compensate you for this incident. Thank you for leaving me your contact. I'm participating in tourism fairs in Hannover, Hamburg, Cologne, until February 11th.
