So that you, too, have an excellent experience with this amazing app--DOWNLOAD the tours you want PRIOR to entering the National Park, get your phone set up on Bluetooth in your vehicle, and STAY BELOW 30 miles an hour when driving. This will give the tour narrator plenty of time to finish each segment before starting the next, and keep you from having one segment cut out before it's done.
*the tour is triggered by you passing certain GPS waypoints to know what segment to play for you
I bought this app three years ago, and since then I've used it on multiple trips to the Smokies with different groups of people traveling with me. If you follow my tips in the first paragraph you, too, can enjoy informative and entertaining narration that turns driving through the Park into an even more enjoyable experience. Don't only learn which peaks are Chimney Tops, for example, but learn WHY they're called that.
This is a godsend for mobility-challenged or older adults who aren't up to hiking but also would like to enjoy the parks and have value added to their (primarily) driving visit.
The tour content that shared information about the Cherokee is very, very welcome, including the native music that plays as you leave Clingman's Dome and later on as well. The main tour is able to be started from either Cherokee or Gatlinburg.
Zero negatives for this app; once you buy the tours they're yours to use forever (screenshot the text they send you w/ the passcode for future logins).
Our only wish is that we could get a similar narrated tour of I-75 and the other highways on the 5-hour trip from our home to the Smokies!!

The narration was excellent and very informative. We learned a lot about the area, the Native Americans, early settlers, and the creation of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
The only issue is the spotty cell coverage inside the park. It tells you to be sure to download the app before entering the park with good WiFi, which we did. But the GPS kept losing us and we missed some narration as we traveled south on 441 from Gatlinburg.

Thanks for the heads-up about the cell service in the Smokies. Downloading beforehand is an excellent tip for future travelers. The good news is the app works offline, too, so you won't need a signal once you're enjoying the views. Are you craving more park adventures? This driving tour was perfect. We got so much relevant information about the area we were visiting. The timing of the tour stops was great and the app worked well even when there was no cell service.

This is a great way to learn the area to pace yourself correctly to ensure you don’t miss anything. The narrator was great. The timing was on par and it was well worth it. This is the best way to do this to your own pace.

Your furry friends are welcome to join you on our self-guided driving tour. While many stops are dog-friendly, some historic sites or hikes, such as Alum Cave Trail and Rainbow Falls Trail, may have restrictions. It's best to check ahead if you're planning to explore those areas. Just a heads up, dogs must always be kept on a leash to ensure everyone's safety.

This is a self-guided tour so you can take it any day, any time! Once you book the tour, follow the instructions to download it onto your phone. From that point on, it’s yours forever. You can access it anytime and it never expires. You can also use it multiple times. We recommend reviewing the tour at home to get a good sense of how it works before your visit!
