We're so glad you enjoyed your trip! There really is no better way to beat the heat than heading underground into Bend's 45 degree lava tube caves. Mother Nature's A/C is truly spectacular!!

I’m giving a 3 because I felt the guide did not provide enough information to match the complexity.
The tour requires a fair amount balance, stability, and mobility. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone with physical issues.
The tour includes some history, which adds meaning.
Overall, the tour was more taxing than expected, but we had a good time.

Hi Charles, We're so sorry the cave tour was more difficult than expected.
We rate our Lava Tube Cave Tour as moderate in terms of difficulty but we also know that everyone has different ability and comfort levels. In the "Additional Info" section of our tour description we do describe that the cave is a wild cave with no paved path, uneven terrain, rocks to scramble over, and a short crawl. If you are ever worried about the difficulty of a certain tour, it is always best to go directly to our website (wanderlusttours.com) as we are better able to clearly lay out the details of a specific tour. And specifically for our cave tours, we offer an easier caving option during the summer months that is not available on Viator.

Our guide Dylan was great. He was very informative and friendly. I’m glad we went with a guide, as the helmet and headlights were essential and we went farther into the cave than we would have on our own. We booked through a third party company vs wanderlust, so I didn’t read the website description about the temperature. Wanderlust was great and loaned us pants and a sweatshirt. Glad we booked the early morning tour, as we had the cave to ourselves. Locals and tourists without guides started to filter in as we were leaving. Highly recommend this tour

I had an amazing time on this tour not only was the customer service very helpful from the get-go of setting up a reservation they were very accommodating for a solo traveler when I arrived at the location for the tour I was greeted very kindly my tour guide went above and beyond I had a fabulous time I would highly recommend this tour very very kind and also at the end we had desserts at the stargazing and for my birthday they went above and beyond with candles it was beyond kind and sing me happy birthday!!

I live in Bend and have taken a few tours with Wanderlust; each one has been amazing.!! The cave tours are something you cannot do on your own as many of them are closed due to misuse by the general public.
Wanderlust takes the upmost pride in sharing the best of Central Oregon with locals and visitors. Their guides are always friendly and knowledgeable, sharing a wealth of information.
Our guide for the cave tour was Jared. He did a great job of making us feel welcome. He drove safely, narrated the journey, answered a plethora of questions and gave advice on what else people could do on their visit (restaurants and cool things to check out).
If you are visiting or a local, I highly recommend you add a tour with Wanderlust to your calendar!

Great father/daughter bonding trip! Me and my 26-year-old daughter went on the lava tube cave tour and loved it. Our guide, Charlie, was very informative and led a great tour. This was a fun thing to do in Bend and something we wouldn’t have done on our own. Shared the info we learned on hikes/walks with the rest of the family over the next few days.

Abbey was exceptional. Friendly, informative, positive and willing to answer questions. She explained how to use the canoes, the surrounding lava and volcanic activity and the guided tour to Lake Paulina and back.

I really don't have the words to describe how amazing and special this tour was for our family of four (kids age 13 and 10). Mitchell, our guide, was absolutely spectacular. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and generous with his time. He also engaged and connected well with the kids. We did the restricted entry cave tour (Skeleton Cave). Most of the cave is large/open but it does have a tighter section you can climb to which was very fun. Mitchell was great about answering questions and pointing things out which really enhanced our experience. The cave was fascinating! I would definitely recommend this tour. Our family will always remember this special experience. Thank you Mitchell and Wanderlust Tours!

We did a lava tube cave tour with Abby in August 2023. 3 adults, 1 child age 6.
Abby was terrific, she kept my son engaged during the whole tour, was very knowledgeable about the area, and was the sweetest tour guide we’ve ever met. We had such a fun time! Thanks Abby!!!
