I felt like this whole experience went badly. First our tour guide barely spoke to us and we were the ones having to ask him questions. He didn’t communicate the entire day what was happening and we didn’t get food for over 5 hours. We also finished over an hour later than scheduled. Way overpriced for the quality of guide and experience we got.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I asked around about your trip and it sounds like some of the other guests ended up arriving late which pushed the whole schedule back. I would also add that our full day trip starts at 8am and lunch is usually served mid-trip around 12:30pm.

Truett was a great guide! He was fun, skilled, and easy to talk to. We were on a small raft with class 1, 2, and 3 rapids. It was super fun and easy. Exciting through the rapids!

My wife and I had a blast being guided down the Rogue River and its initial set of Rapids like Hellgate and Widowmaker. Our guide was very helpful and made sure we made the most of it. We stayed overnight and got to enjoy nature, the stars, comfortable arrangements, and a well needed meal! Cant wait to return to tackle the lower Rogue.

I had a blast. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, good sense of humor, showed interest in getting to know their groups. I went with two other women, but now I’m anxious to get back on the river with my kids!

This is the very first time we went rafting. It was the best trip ever! The guides Derek and Micah were so awesome and skilled. The kids loved Micah as their tour guide, and Derek kept the adults company. Everyone had a blast river rafting. Both guides were so organized, they came prepared with food and water. They even remembered to bring hand sanitizer for lunch.We didn't have to worry about bringing enough water or food. They also checked our temperature and helped us with the gear. Overall, if we ever get a chance to come there again, we will definitely choose Orange Torpedo Trips.

It was our second time with Orange Torpedoes, and we took a Full-day Hellgate Cyn tour both times. We all had a tremendous experience, including our three children who were 11, 13, and 15 on our last trip. We had Mike Slagle as our guide for the full-day trip, and he was terrific not just as a leader of the whole group of rafts, but as a knowledgeable expert on local history and wildlife. We loved all of his stories, especially the one about Indian Mary Park! The full day on the water flies by so quickly! We had our fun time at the rapids as well as a chance to swim in the water where it was safe. The team provided lunch and drinks with all the necessary safety and social distancing precautions.
Apart from that, we also took the Nuggett Falls half-day trip with Nick as our guide and it was awesome! It's more exciting as there're 4-category rapids on this trip (compared to only 3-category on Hellgate) and it was definitely marked as the coolest one by the kids!

We actually did the "Thrill seeker" trip, which wasn't listed on the options..
Simply, we had a blast. Our guide, Derek, was easy going and skilled, and the food he packed was tasty. My wife has some dietary restrictions and they accommodated for her well.
My favorite part of the trip was the nugget falls, but I loved the whole day. The morning trip in the kayaks was slow and scenic, with a few moments of excitement to mix it up.

We were really excited when we came up with that itinerary offering the diversity of experiences with kayaking in the morning and the bigger whitewater in the afternoon. This had to be the most perfect day! I chose OTT because I wanted my 13 and 15 year old grandnephews who were visiting from Virginia to have their own kayaks while we "old folks" sat back and relaxed in our oared raft. (Other companies I called did not provide kayaks for the kids.) Nick was the guide for the boys, and Spencer was our guide in the oared raft. Both were superb at making our day a river experience we won't soon forget. Nick had those kids kayaking through the rapids like pros, and it was wonderful to watch him teach the boys how to splash each other and joust with their paddles in the calmer parts of the river. Spencer treated us like the River Queens (my sister and I) and King (my husband), with terrific humor as well as knowledge of the river's history and natural environment. OTT is truly a class act; beautiful equipment, professional staff who clearly love what they do. Incredibly fun day, it was everything I'd hoped for, and then some. I already have two more trips planned!

I love this review. We believe the inflatable kayaks are an incredible opportunity for teens to take on a new challenge, learn a new skill, and ultimately find new confidence in themselves while having an incredible adventure on the river. I love that you signed them up for it and that they had a great day playing on the river! The risk is you may have created in them a life long passion for running rivers!
Thanks again and I hope we get to see you and your Grandnephews sometime soon!

We did a full day raft trip on the Rogue River, taking my 79 year old mother, 10 and 13 year old daughters, and we all had a marvelous time. The scenery was incredible through Hellgate Canyon and beyond. Our competent and charismatic guide, Stephanie was so knowledgable about the local flora, fauna and natural history, as well as being a terrific river guide. We saw river mink, Osprey, Blue Heron, Mergansers, river snakes (non-threatening) and turtles. But...the highlight of our trip was our guide, Stephanie who quickly determined that the kids wanted adrenaline pumping thrills, and grandma wanted to stay safe, and she managed to deliver both! Our family has done this stretch of river before with different outfitters (and different guides), but Stephanie won us over to Orange Torpedo Trips. We'll definitely be repeat clients, and we'll definitely be requesting her!

I recently booked a full day Hellgate Canyon river trip for my wife and I and another couple who were visiting Oregon for their anniversary.
The trip could not have been better. Our guide, Jacob Castro, was excellent. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of the river and its history and kept us continually entertained with stories and anecdotes. His ability to navigate the rapids kept us excited (and wet). Half way through the trip we stopped at a special spot and were served a great and filling lunch. Throughout the trip Jacob continually pointed out the wildlife along the river which added to the enjoyment of the day.
The Orange Torpedo organization is friendly, professional and thorough and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and use them again.
