I booked a whale watching cruise for my wife and 2 friends back in October 22. The cruise was cancelled due to rough seas, which is fine, and I asked for a refund. I gave the bank details then and there and waited.

Eigentlich hatten wir die Delphin-Tour gebucht - als wir uns einchecken wollten wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die Delphin-Tour voll wäre. Nachdem man 5 Minuten nach unserem Namen gesucht hat, obwohl wir einen schriftlichen Voucher hatten, wurden wir dann "upgegraded" auf die Walbeobachtung. Die wir eigentlich nicht wollten.
Im inneren Hafen und kurz davor sah das Meer ruhig aus, so dass wir dann doch zustimmten, in der Hoffnung einen Wal zu sehen.
Als wir aber dann etwas ausserhalb des Hafengebietes waren, wurde die See sehr rau. Unter diesen Umständen sieht man keine Wale (diese Information haben wir von seriösen Walbeobachtern bekommen - auf unseren vorherigen Touren rund um die Welt). Dieser Umstand war auch der Crew bekannt, weil der Kapitän direkt auf die Felswand an der Küste zusteuerte, um "Wasserfälle" zu zeigen, die so gut wie nicht da waren und eine Höhle - und das sollte dann das Geld wert sein, was man für Walbeobachtung gezahlt hat - eine Unverschämtheit.
Auf dem Rückweg war der Wellengang so hoch, dass wir ins Innere des Schiffes gingen - es wurden bereits Kotztüten verteilt, wobei die Crew sichtlich Spaß hatte, dass es den Passagieren nicht so gut ging. Wir hatten Kinder an Bord, die auch Angst hatten. Und Sprüche wie "The Boat is harder than my Billy - so you don´t need to be afraid" sind wenig professionell. Einige Gäste durften sich ganz oben auf dem Schiff aufhalten (trotz des Wetters) - dann gab es einen Unfall auf dem Oberdeck. Ein Gast musste liegend vom Krankenwagen abtransportiert werden, da er offensichtlich vorher bewusstlos war. Ein anderer Gast hatte den Arm in der Schlinge. Immerhin ermittelt die Polizei und wird hoffentlich so ein unprofessionelles Verhalten unterbinden. Der Kapitän ist für die Kunden verantwortlich - auch wenn der ein oder andere denkt er ist Superman, muss der Kapitän dafür sorgen, dass die Passagiere sicher sind. Die Crew machte den Eindruck, dass sie mehr auf Spaß aus ist, als ihren Job erst zu nehmen. Wer so mit Menschen umgehend wird sicher nicht nachhaltig und vorsichtig mit Tieren umgehen.

Staff very good and weather was fine but sadly only saw the tail of one whale from a distance and waited around where they were supposed to surface but didn't happen. Not cheap and staff said not many whales seen on recent trips as we left which was not encouraging.
I have been on a couple of whale tours here and on the Gold Coast and have been disappointed both times.
I realize sightings are not guaranteed but would not bother spending good money to go again.

Wonderful experience! It took a while to find any whales when we got past the heads, but when we started seeing them, the captain stayed out a lot longer than timed for us. We saw about 8 whales!
And on the way out he stopped when we saw seals, dolphins & even penguins!!!
Everyone was very courteous & stayed sitting so all could see.
Highly recommend it

I totally understand that whales are creatures of the wild and there is no guarantee that you will see them but somehow it is still disappointing that when you do go out on a whale tour, all that occurs is a rough trip on a boat with a lot of swell and a sighting of a couple of sea birds.
The reason behind my review is to notify people that this might occur for them and also to be aware that be prepared for sea sickness. The boat does go outside the bay so we were exposed to large swells. I did take sea sickness medication but unfortunately they still did not help. The crew member did not come upstairs with the sickness bags & It was too dangerous for us to try to navigate the stairs down. I had to make do with something in my bag to try and ‘catch’ it all.
So the tip is to have a couple of sick bags with you from the beginning and be prepared for a lot of sea views.

Absolutely great afternoon on Jervis Bay Wild whale .atching Cruise this afternoon .
The whales put on an excellent show but Wayne and his crew enabled us to have excellent views and then on the way home he manoeuvred the boat so that we had spectacular views of a large pod of dolphins

Whales go north in June and July and return October, November. The return trip they bring their calves and come closer to land and take their time.
