Charlie was our guide and he was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the history of Memphis. I particularly liked the fact that on a walking tour, he waitied for all the participants to catch up with the group before launching into his description of the site and also welcomed questions. A true professional who knew a whole lot more than a scripted dialogue. He apologized for not knowing all the details of some sculptures that had been installed only a few days before. Book direct on the Back Beat website. Good value and well described meeting point. I would add that it might be helpful to some to state the total distance covered on the walk. Highly recommended.

This was one of the best walking tours I have ever been on! Our tour guide was amazing. If I’m not mistaken, her name was Connie. She was very personable and knowledgeable. I know more about Memphis and it’s history that I ever thought I would and it was all very interesting. She took her time with us and we never felt like we were on a clock. I highly recommend this walking tour.

Very enjoyable and an easy walk. Learned much about Memphis’ history. Very good guide and a nice way to see the downtown area.

Katie was a fun and very informative tour guide! She gave us a fantastic look at Memphis as we walked around downtown. Highly recommend this tour for a great look at Memphis’ history.

Shannon was fantastic! Wonderful tour of downtown Memphis. Lots of great background and insights into the history. Shannon knew everyone including the owner of Lansky’s who took the time to tell us stories and showed pictures. Great experience.

So glad we decided to take this tour. It was a Beautiful warm, sunny Saturday morning. We met Shannon, our tour guide, at Alfred’s on Beale, along with 5 others. Shannon was the perfect guide! She was so knowledgeable of this beautiful city. Shannon clearly has a passion for the city, history, culture & people!
The tour lasted 2 hours. Shannon took us to so many different locations I lost count!
Not really sure what the highlight of the tour was? Was it the ducks or meeting Mr Lansky???

We were so lucky to have Kate to ourselves and she really brought the city’s history alive. An excellent tour with lots of interesting background facts. We started to understand and appreciate Memphis so much more as a result of what we learned from Kate.

My wife and I have done some great walking tours elsewhere and have had amazing experiences, which is why we chose to do one in Memphis. Not sure if it was the history itself or the tour, but the experience felt to drag on. The experience itself left us disappointed.

Very flat with a few curbs but no stairs. Covered about 1 ½-2miles over 2 hours.
Is there parking near by.

There is a parking garage on Peabody Place which is less than a block from Alfred's on Beale which is the meeting spot.

t drive on the Sabbath and I would love to do this tour. Can I walk to wherever you begin and meet you there? I am also staying at the Peabody- is that too far to walk?
