The tour guide is very precise in explaining in detail on how they make the guitars, he also includes items for you to see and touch on the process of the guitar making. I actually felt like I worked all day.

As a guitarist passing through Memphis a trip to the Gibson Guitar Factory was high on my list of "Must Do's". To see the attention to detail as the wood is crafted from, essentially, block to a beautiful musical instrument was fascinating and a joy to see. At all stages through the process the emphasis is on quality and the drive is to ensure that only perfection is created.
It's a real shame to hear that Gibson are facing financial difficulties. Good luck with resolving these issues as it would be a crime to see such a massive name in music fade away.

You start in the showroom. the guitars are beautiful. the tour takes about an hour and they walk you through the entire manufacturing process. makes me want to buy one. great tour.

This was to me a five star adventure, but I've been a Gibson fan for many years. They really do make some fantastic instruments. The Memphis factory only makes the ES 335 a semi-hollow body classic that takes dozens of complex steps to get right - and it better be, they have more inspectors than you can count. They don't miss a note either. It is noisy and has strong lacquer fumes, but you are seeing a working factory.

This was my son’s favorite part of Memphis. I don’t play guitar, but I wanted to buy one after this tour!

I'm glad I was able to take my son's to this place before it is no longer. Seeing how the guitars were made was very entertaining and informative. My son, who is a avid Gibson fan and guitar player really enjoyed this place. Being able to pick up a guitar in the gift shop area and plug in to play blew my mind! One guitar that he played was valued well over $10 grand! I was sweating like never before as I asked what kind of down payment or deposit is needed to play that guitar? The nice elderly man just said, "tell him to plug in over there and play something good"!
