brdartist

Recreate the life of one of the passengers on the doomed ship as you are given a passenger card to take with you as your tour the museum. You will learn your fate at the end.
Standing in front of half a reconstruction of the Titanic you will see an anchor and a flower display with a captain's hat. Guests are given handheld devices to listen to various points along your walk through tour. Staff is dressed as crew members to share stories and answer any questions you may have.
This year Titanic celebrates the year of the children and you will find some children's artifacts as you walk through. The first floor shows you the layout of the ship, its maiden voyage path to NY, the building of the Titanic, pictures of launch day, how dogs were cared for, and life among both the 2nd class and steerage passengers. You even see a third class cabin recreation. Photography is not permitted on this floor until you get to the grand staircase.
Once you reach it you head up and see a first class parlor and hallway, a room dedicated to the musicians aboard ship with a piano in the center and then follow the journey as the ship collides with the iceberg and meets her terrible fate. There are many interactive stations where you can actually see if you can hold onto the stern 2 minutes before the sinking. Enjoyed seeing the marconi used to summon the Carpathia along with a Titanic made entirely out of legos.
You'll also see the underseas explorations years later and some of the artifacts they aquired. Learn about the menus, those who lost their lives as well as the destiny of those who were saved. Allow about 2 hours to tour the entire museum which empties into a gift shop.
There were many things I would have liked to have photographed on the first floor but got plenty above the grand staircase. Definitely a must visit if you like studying the Titanic.

The museum is an audio guided tour, lots of information and artifacts. We came with 3 small children and would not recommend. We went because it was advertised as being kid friendly and interactive, but would recommend for kids 8+ at least.

Very informative and engaging museum about the sinking of the Titanic. The museum has artifacts recovered from the ship, and many personal stories of survivors as well as people associated with the construction of the ship. You are assigned the name of a Titanic passenger when you board the ship, but do not know until the end if you survive, All the staff are dressed in costumes appropriate for the period. Highly enjoyable and well worth the time.

Loved seeing all the artifacts from the ship itself. A special shout out to one of the docents - Atwell? A dark haired young man working upstairs last week. He was knowledgeable and friendly, really made our visit special. Nice job!

The museum was an interesting tribute to the Titanic. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I wish there were more interactive exhibits or replicas that were more tactile. Overall it was a good experience.

The kids really wanted to visit this museum and we were pleasantly surprised with how engaging of a historical and educational experience this museum turned out to be! The hand held audio devices that played both adult and child perspectives at many of the exhibits really engaged the kids as well. What stood out for this particular museum is the way they brought the human aspect of the stories to life. It's more than just "artifacts behind glass cases" or pieces of a boat. This museum is so much more in the way the passenger stories are told. Passengers from many walks of life are represented. The stories behind the ship design and building, along with other ships involved with the Titanic, are told. The other aspect the museum used to bring these stories to life is the use of physical elements - the air became colder as we moved through the exhibit, there was an opportunity to feel how cold the water would have been, and if physically able, once can walk on three different deck inclines so one can feel how difficult it would have been to navigate the ship as it sank. These physical aspects, combined with the compassionate presentation of the survivors and those that perished, made this museum stand out as a worthy historical tribute and not just a tourist attraction.

We really loves this attraction. There was so much history and information that we didn't even get to read every single description. The artifacts and replicas were very interesting. Prices are great. We took our 9 year old son and he really loved it. The crew mates are very helpful and full of information. This is a must do!

First , it could of been a good tour , however the operators do a disservice to the guests and frankly the people who perished by packing as many people as they can where you can’t enjoy. I had a 12:30pm time and didn’t get in until 1:40pm. Go early when it opens and buy your tickets in advance.
Next , if you have children under 12 they will not like it. Go next door to Beyond the Lens.
There weren’t as many as artifacts as thought there might be.
Overall it was decent but stop cramming so many people in.

Do you physically walk on sloped deck or see it?

They have a model of the sloped deck as various stages in the sinking so yes, you can walk up the sloped surface of a deck mockup to feel what it was like when the ship was sinking. Very disorienting!

I am looking forward to visiting your museum. I'm not exactly sure what time I'll be able to get there. If I pre-purchase a ticket and show up an hour earlier than my scheduled time would I be able to enter the museum at the earlier time? What would happen if I show up 30 minutes or an hour later than my scheduled time? Thank you!

TexSteve - This page is from travelers such as your self who have visited the museum. We can give you our experiences, but in this case as I am not extremely familiar with their policies I will have to speculate. My guess is that you will be welcome if you are either early or late other than on an extremely busy day, then I think that they will still try to fit you in. Myself, I always show up early, the worst that can happen is that I have to wait.
I hope that you enjoy the museum as much as I did.

Should be open year round. My mom and I spent 4 hours exploring the many untold stories of the tragedy. I was very very impressed with the museum. Was actually one of the best parts of our long weekend.
I purchased 8 tickets for a tour today 9/16 at 1:30. Did this on line and have not received any info nor ticket accessibility. My name is Peter Basil Jr. I need to make sure we have tickets for my 8 person tour for today. My cell number is 740-371-0523
