Beautiful nature walk

Pedro was a very friendly and knowledgeable Guide, explaining the local flora and fauna. The Levadas walk itself isn‘t too difficult. Some altitude metres of course but totally doable for people with average fitness like me. Waterproof shoes and gear are a must through.

Excelente programa, muito profissional. O guia é muito simpático, foi dando explicações sobre o percurso e sobre a flora e a fauna envolvente.

Pick-up arrangements all organised in advance, everything went very smoothly.
Wonderful guide who was very engaging and knowledgeable on flora of the area.
Loved this trip.

In one word: BREATHTAKING !

Our guide Luis Fernandes is also trailrunner. He was born on the island and therefore knows every corner of of the island like his back pocket. He will show you places and trails no other guide will take you. Breathtaking views and awesome trails. One of the most beautiful holidays we have ever experienced. In total we did 3 trails.
- Rabaçal/25 Fontes
- Pico do Arieiro/Pico ruivo
- Larano XL: We call it XL because Luis took us for an extra trail which was a little technical as he calls it. 😱. But so beautiful 😍 this was really awesome!

Madeira through trail running

The diversity of Madeira is incredibly beautiful. I decided to discover it through trail running. As you can easily be overwhelmed and miss something, it is highly desirable to have an experienced guide. I chose Explore Nature and the best guide I could wish for, Luís. His commitment to give me the best of the island was amazing, his knowledge about the island is stunning, his passion for nature, active life style and positivity are definitely contagious. He took me to some of the most beautiful places where I could enjoy so many different faces of Madeira. He showed little details I would never see running alone. Also running with a top world class trail runner was a great experience. Whether trail running or hiking, you can count that Explore Nature will give you the best of Madeira. Big thank you Luís!

Awesome

It was a really good day. Luís is nice and very organized, everything was went well. First we stopped to try poncha. Then we went to the levada rabaçal 25 fontes and back for 4 hours. After the trail we stopped at the sugar cane facility and we bought sugar cane cake 👍👌.
The group formed by 7 plus Luís had a really good time. I strongly recommend explore nature for levadas, trail running and private activities.

Gorgeous hike with excellent guide!!

You will be soooooooo glad you chose a guided walk/ hike/ trail run with Explore Nature when you see the groups of 15-20 people doing guided walks with the larger companies and you are off on a side trail with a handful of new friends. Luis (your fantastic guide) only does small groups so you really get a chance to become friends with him, ask all your questions, learn about the land and the trails, avoid the big tour groups as much as possible, and get recommendations for other things to do in Madeira. We did the Rabacal Levada walk and the Pico Ruivo walk- both were amazing, but I especially recommend the Rabacal/ 25 Fontes one!!!

Levada walk, Rabacal

I did two walks with Luis, and this one was the first one. Luis is a great guide and really enjoys his job, so you can feel the enthusiasm. He knows a lot about the flora, he is careful about the pace of the group and he has lots of suggestions about where to go and what to do on Madeira. I highly recommend to take a walk or few with Luis!
