Stephan was a wonderful host. Pick up at our hotel was great. Having bottled water when needed hit the spot. His humor was well, humorous. It being a small bus is great. Not a big crowd. The other passengers from New Zealand, England, Atlanta made it for great conversation. The park to see the redwoods was nice and serene and there were bathrooms there. The only thing is the amount of time spent on the beach was to long. And the van did not stay. With the slight drizzle it would have been nice to get out of the weather.

We really enjoyed our tour of the Redwoods, Californian Coast and Sausalito. Our tour guide Steven was really friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. He struck a perfect balance by providing regular facts and pieces of information about the areas along our journey, with good humour and tailored to our family - two adults and two pre-teens - on the day, without overload, and with plenty opportunity to enjoy the scenery. As movie fans it was great to have lunch at Goat Rock beach - the site of the final act of 'The Goonies' and see the schoolhouse from 'The Birds'. We had regular stops and it was pleasing to be able to support small businesses along the way visiting a coffee shop, sandwich shop/local store and Salt Water Taffy shop. We had adequate time to wander through Sausilto and take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge away from the typical tourist viewpoint! We thought the trip was good value for money and I would have no hesitation in recommending Best Bay Area Tours to friends and family and I will definitely use the company again for a wine tour or trip to Yosemite if we visit SF again in the future. Thanks for the great day Steven!

Today, Phil fulfilled one of my bucket list trips, of which all three formed the dream from many years ago.
Nothing was too much trouble, Phil made a real effort to make the whole day, informative, enjoyable with a great touch of humour added in.
The choice of route, areas selected could not be faulted, giving an idea of the best California has to offer.
I had a fantastic day, thank you Best Area Tours team, especially our tour guide Phil.

David was a great tour guide! Very informative, happy, and helpful. We stayed at an Airbnb so the pickup was not where we actually stayed. David changed the route as he was going past our place regardless and dropped us off at our actual place. It was very rainy and chilly but despite that, we had a great time! Our group was friendly and helpful too. He was going to have us get sandwiches and eat on the beach - which is what they normally do. But because of the weather, he took us to a cafe in a little town. It was SO tasty! We had plenty of time at each stop. I would have liked more time at the redwoods had it been nice out, but because of the cruddy weather, It was plenty of time. David was awesome and I highly recommend this tour or any other tour by Best Bay Area Tours! OH! And the ride was very comfortable in the van. And not too long of a day especially if you go into this knowing you will be driving for a bit.
Also, communication was great. I received an email a few days before our tour and a call the evening before our tour.

Pros:
- Our guide Steven was great! On time pick up, friendly, knowledgable, and safe driver
- Random, but Steven's 90s playlist made all the time in the van fun!
- Nice roomy luxury van
- Armstrong Woods was easy to walk, serene, quiet, with no crowds
- The other beach stops were lovely ways to break up the trip
Cons:
- The email communications leading up to the tour could have been better. I felt like I was following up and asking questions when the company should have been the one to proactively reach out to me (i.e. when the van would be coming for pick up, or the status of the tour meeting its minimum)
Tips:
- Dress warmer than you would if you are coming from San Fran, the woods and the beaches are cooler.. in retrospect that is obvious but I definitely forgot ha

The Good:
Despite the title of this review, Brian (tour guide) made this trip worthwhile and enjoyable with his energy and vast knowledge of the sights. We couldn't really check out the coastline due to the bad weather. So Brian called and audible gave us extra time to explore and have a longer lunch.. Now he may have dropped the ball on the food recommendations in Sausalito, but made up for it with his ability to take pictures (Still waiting for the group photo). This tour was so fun that me, my wife & another member of the tour almost got lost within the forest (LOL). The weather cleared up and it picture taking time. This tour was a blast and the van wasn't full so that was good.
The Bad:
If I recall correctly, the title states that we would be traveling in a "luxury" van. This van was far from any type of luxury van I've ridden in before and it was a little on the dirty side.
The Ugly:
Speaking of the van... Midway into the trip as the rain was coming down hard, the van started to leak pretty bad where my wife was sitting. Luckily there were empty seats in front of us and we moved up. Between the cleanliness, the leak and misrepresentation of the van I felt I need to take a away a point.
Other than that I definitely recommend this tour and Brian as a guide.

The tour was amazing. We had a ton of fun and Steven was a great tourguide. He went above and beyond to give us a nice trip. We got some amazing pictures and saw some beautiful scenery. We went to the Armstrong forest and it was really amazing. It almost felt like we had the place to ourselves.

What a wonderful day we had - when they say small group, ours was only four people (I've had tours cancelled at the last minute with more people). Pick up at hotel at the time specified and a great day was had - with Phil providing an interesting commentary throughout. We had chosen this trip to see the redwoods without the clouds of Muir Woods - perfect, but were then treated to a pick-nick on an enchanted beach (the fog had not yet lifted and the photos are incredible). Highly recommend.

Tour guide (Brian + mark) was friendly, informative, and brought a lot of amenities for the group. If you live locally, they even offer discounts if you want to go again on another trip! The small group size also makes it feel more amicable and less impersonal

You could bring a 3 yr. old, I just don't think there's much for them to do. Seeing the redwood trees would be fun, and the walk on the beach,but it's a lot of riding in a van and listening to the guide, so a 3 yr. old might get restless and bored.

They pick up at all major hotels, they were very accommodating with us in that we needed pick-up/drop off at our cruise ship. You can always contact "Best Bay Area Tours" @ 415-543-8687. Be sure and tell them you did research on 'Tripadvisor'.

Hi, what type of transport is this? Mini-van? SUV, Mini Bus? Also, we will be staying in Emeryville, CA.. is there a pick up point there as well?

A very comfy mini bus, it seats about 12 people.
I think they only pick up in the bay area but if you contact them directly they would be able to arrange something with you. One couple got the train from Berkley and they picked them up.
I hope this helps.
We will be staying at Hotel Chateau Tivoli. My mom is handicapped, will you be able to pick us up at our hotel.
