We didn’t know until the day before that the Alcatraz tour is unescorted but it makes perfect sense! They pick you up after and then there’s 14-16 in a sprinter van. Good to meet others from around the globe. Great stop for photos of Golden Gate bridge. Muir Woods is great. Additional $15 per adult not included to walk the 1 hr trail. Then sweet cute Sausalito where you have an hour to eat and shop. Great tour. Love our guide Dustin.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us - we're so glad you had a great time with Dustin! The Alcatraz portion of the tour is unescorted, however there is a wonderful self-guided audio tour, which allows you to explore the island at your own pace. Sounds like you enjoyed all the stops in our itinerary and we can't wait to have you back on board next time!

The tour takes you to Muir woods and Sausalito where you will decide what to do during the allocated time and leaves you in the final part at the pier for the Alcatraz ferry. Judith was our driver and shared a lot of interesting facts about the places we were about to visit as well as took great pictures. She was wonderful. All in all I found it a good activity to do while in San Francisco.

It was a wonderful experience. The day went smoothly, and the experience was exactly as advertised. Our driver was courteous and fun, and we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend it.

Great to see some well known sites in the San Francisco area. Just wish we had more time in the places we did stop at. Other than that, a good experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable. Punctual. Instructions were simple and easy to follow, as far as where to meet and what time. Pretty straight forward.

demasiada presión por parte del chofer para los horarios, casi nos dejan y eso que llegamos dos minutos antes d ella hora indicada de partida, no importa que sugirieran llegar 15 minutos antes. pudimos pasar mas tiempo en Sausalito , pero la guía nos presionaba con que no llegaríamos al Ferry para alcatraz, el cual salía cada 15 MINUTOS. en general no recomendare este tour.

This "tour" is basically just transporting you to the Muir Woods entrance, stopping in Sausalito for lunch, then dropping you off at the ferry to Alcatraz. I would have liked more time at Muir Woods and skipped Sausalito altogether, so in hindsight, I think you're better off just going to each place separately. The ferry to Alcatraz in particular is very easy to get to with public transit. Our driver did give a lot of interesting commentary about the city as he drove us, though.

I loved the history at Alcatraz and the beauty at Muir Woods. Muir Woods was breathtaking. I could have skipped the 1 hr stop in Sausalito but I did really enjoy the driver’s stories about Sausalito during the drive. They were so interesting. Our driver was very personable and encouraged all of us to talk and share experiences.

Really good trip . Alcatraz you do on your own & meet the bus after . Tour guide for woods & Sausalito knowledgable but too quiet to hear . Great places to see as part of your holiday.

No está mal el tour pero los tiempos son muy cortos, vas corriendo en cada parada y al final de tour termina alrededor de las 3:30pm, es muy costoso para los recorridos realizados, mejoraría más los tiempos para que valga la pena la inversión.

How available are bathrooms for this activity?

First one on the Golden Gate viewing point about 30 mins after the meeting point. Then on the Muir woods gift shop about 40-45 mins after that first stop. After Muir it takes about 30-35 mins to Sausalito or even less depending on traffic and you can find another bathroom there. After Sausalito it takes about 50 mins to get to where you start the alcatraz tour and they have bathrooms there too. At least on our last trip there back in December. Traffic may affect the times a bit.

My mom doesn't like to walk too much. How much walking around is there in Muir Woods or Sausalito in terms of miles?

The trail at Muir Woods is not long. There is an up hill section but it is optional as there are also trails along the stream. In fact, some of the more interesting trees are near the stream.
In Sausalito, we ate lunch and there are options involving only a short, few minutes walk.
