Starting with a 4x4 tour in Canyonlands not through the usual road. Our guide Josh was cool and drove prudently. We took the famous shafer trail road to reach the Island in the Sky VC. Breathtaking stop places. Canyonlands is a must do. Then lunch at the river and start of rafting on the Colorado. Again very skilled and cool river boy, Jacob, did the ride with us. The descent is not too hard - a few class 2 and one class 3 rapid. But we were in good hands. Several opportunities to swim in the river, THE Colorado. So a nice full day of souvenirs.

NAVTEC has always provided great service. This was our third year rafting and our guide Greg was a blast. I highly recommend NAVTEC.

We had a very nice drive with a 4x4, with a fantastic guide, who told us a lot about the history of this region and about the history of the natives. We did stops on very cool places to get many pictures.
Also the rafting was very nice. The water could have been a bit „wilder“, but the guide did a great job.
Without these guided tours I probably might not have seen all those places and might not have learned so much about the region and about the culture.

This tour made for a great day! We spent the morning with Carter on the 4x4 tour. He did a great job of taking us to some amazing viewpoints! 2/4 of my family has a fear of heights and at no point did they feel unsafe. After a great lunch of chicken caesar wraps (included), we spent the afternoon on the river with Joe. He did a great job of keeping our raft moving and narrating along the way! Highly recommend!

Charolette did our 4x4 tour in canyonlands and was absolutely AMAZING! We learned so much from her about the land and had so much fun. So happy we got her.
Nick was our river guide, he was not only insanely funny and gave us a lot of facts along the way - but can’t believe he is only 19! I wish he was my river guide all the time.
Best trip ever.

The backcountry part of the tour was amazing! Matt was a great guide and my family saw and learned a lot. The second rafting part was very scenic and relaxing. Will had an amazing sense of humor and was also a wealth of information. We had a lot of laughs on the river! My only negative was the provided lunch - definitely something that can be improved upon.

The whole trip was wonderful! Joe McCarthy was our guide through Canyonlands and he was GREAT! He took good care of us, bringing us to some great spots and not rushing us through them. We were able to enjoy each spot to our satisfaction before moving on. He told us all about the rock formations, petroglyphs, flowers and wildlife that we encountered on our trip and always ensured we had plenty to drink and some snacks if we were interested. Following the Canyonland tour, Bridger drove us to meet up with our guide for the river tour. I believe her name was Addie. She was fantastic. We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch before getting on the boat. The trip down the river was peaceful and lovely. The rapids were not excessive, but everyone got wet at least once. Addie did an amazing job at rowing us along the river and always with a smile. She pointed out the various rock formations or sights along the way. All in all, it was a spectacular day.

What great people they have there! Seem to be one big, happy family, and my friends, and I felt totally taken care of and had the best time! Our guides were very knowledgeable and funny and really helped create the full experience.

4x4 was excelent. Guide had good knowledge of area and easy to visit with. Landscape was beautiful. River raft was good, we have rafted many times in Montana so the landscape was the best part.

Matt, our super fun and friendly 4x4 driver, was very informative about the numerous geological and historical facts regarding Canyonland, which made what we were viewing even better.
"Rebridgerator" our river raft guide, was a hoot! We were all laughing and having fun. Delicious Cesar Salad wraps, too, guys!

Thinking of doing the combo (4x4 and river rafting) trip around May 9, 2019 with my 2 adrenaline-junkie sons (21 & 24). Given the snowmelt (or lack thereof) would the river raft trip be more of a "float" trip?

Would you recommend this for a seven year old? We are considering it but I didn't know if it would be too scary for him.

I don't think a 7 year old would be able to see out the window quite the way an adult would. The vehicle usually holds 4 people, in addition to the driver. One in the front and three in back. One person in our group was obviously a little anxious with the drop offs that you could see out the window. We did stop quite a few times so that we could get out and view the area better, and a 7 year old would enjoy that part, I think. If the child was in the middle of the back seat s/he wouldn't be able to look down so much, but see everything that was surrounding them, which is indescribable.

Hi We are interested in booking sometime between 17th and 23rd of May. i am a bit nervous about rafting in rapids - How rough does it get? Will I have to do something while on raft?

I think the calm/roughness of the ride depends on the season and the rains or the snowmelt. If you are going in early May there may still be higher waters, colder water, and more rapid currents, which would produce more white water. We rode it during August and they were in a draught. There was barely any white water, and it was super hot. There were two boats for our group. On one, everyone had an oar and the guide taught them how to work together. The second boat had a guide who did all of the rowing (in the middle of the boat.) We just sat on the side and viewed. I think because we are older they thought we would rather not have to put any effort into it, but the water was so lame it actually became a bit boring after a while.

How long is the tour of the Island in the Sky and what sites are seen there? I was considering scheduling time to visit there and checking out specific sites in this area of the park and I am wondering if this tour is hitting those same sites. Also, we are looking at traveling around the 21st of May. How cold should we expect the water? Is this 'wet suit' kind of cold?
