The Amtrak employee said five star tours has not been operating for over 2 years. This man that I contacted after seeing the number on several signs around the train station spoke to me in a way I’ve never experienced in my 33 years. He was extremely rude, told me I need to read closer because I didn’t know who the third party booking company was, questioned me multiple times about my reservations when I distinctly told him at the beginning of our conversation that I had reservations and a confirmation email. We arrived at 9 because the email said to get there 15 mins early to check in. No one showed. When I emailed to find out what was going on they told me to sit in the lobby and wait. We waiting until 9:40 before deciding we probably got scammed. I got an email at 9:45 saying they had to cancel the tour due to an emergency with the guide. So we wasted our morning, drove an hour to the city for nothing. Based on other reviews, I call BS about the guide. Don’t book with these people. The picture is of the abandoned looking office they tell you to meet at

I paid $200 per night forc2 nights at Doubletree Inn to take a SanDiego Tour which they CANCELLED while was out waiting for the tour bus to show up. No advance notice...NADA!!
"Lisa" at 5 Star Tours told me I was the only one booked for that tour, so she cancelled it 45 minutes before it was supposed to start.
I AM NOT IMPRESSED. Could not do the make good she offered for the next morning because my flight home left in the morning.
Great story for my next newspaper column though.

My husband and I were really looking forward to this tour on February 19, 2020, during our vacation in San Diego and I wish I could give it a glowing review. We received a confirmation email with instructions, sent at 4:01 a.m. on the 19th. However, at 12:14 p.m. (less than two hours before our tour was to begin and while we were en route to the site), we received an email that the tour had been cancelled, even though we were told we would be given 48 hours notice in the event of a cancellation. The only bright spot was that I happened to see the email before we paid for parking. The cancellation may have been due to passengers who cancelled at the last minute, thus not meeting the minimum requirement for the tour, but it was very unprofessional to cancel with such short notice and very inconvenient for those of us who were looking forward to this tour, and I feel they should have proceeded with the tour regardless of the numbers participating.

The tour was excellent! The tour guide was gracious and knowledgeable about the top spots in San Diego. I really enjoyed the tour from start to finish. Would definitely book another tour with this company.

This tour was a great way to see that San Diego has A LOT to offer and see. Frank was a GREAT tour guide - very knowledgeable and friendly. We highly recommend this tour if you have a few hours to spend.

We never took the tour. Received a phone call just as we arrived that it was cancelled. They had emailed us 45 minutes prior to that, but they should have called right away. It cost us $40 via Lyft roundtrip. They should have notified us earlier and via phone call, not email. Not everyone checks their email every 5 minutes while on vacation.

Awesome way to see San Diego & area. Allows enough time to check things out during the tour. Allows you to return to favorite spots afterwards.

the tour was cancelled with less than an hour's notice and the company did not offer any alternatives to the tour.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the tour at the last minute during January. This month is our worst ever and have to turn down guests because we need to meet our minimum of five guests in our tours. We do offer alternatives from private tours, rescheduling tours or offering other companies to tour. Unfortunately, we cannot please all our guests. We are very sorry about your experience.

What a great tour! Even though we had a car rental we decided to let someone else show us around and it was the right decision! We booked last minute and it turned out to be a group of 5. Frank was great! He was very informative about the area and we spent time in all of the must see areas: waterfront/USS Midway and Seaport Village, Coronado Island, Gaslight district, Old Town area, Balboa Park, Little Italy, LaJolla and the sea lions, plus he timed our stop at the Mt Soledad Veterans Memorial for an unforgettable sunset! He was also sweet enough to drop us off on the way back to the Santa Fe station at the restaurant where we wanted to have dinner. 4 hour tour that really covered so much!!! Highly recommend it. Thanks Frank!!
