Those who are there in the area should treat themselves at least 2 days.

This was the most beautiful experience! The slot caverns are incredible! Our tour guide , Alex, was very knowledgeable and fun . We are so happy to have gone in this tour ! Can check it off my bucket list ! Wouldn’t let me upload pics. Kept saying network error . But pics are gorgeous!

The canyon is simply fantastically beautiful and highly recommended. It makes a lasting impression. Our guide guided us competently and was also very helpful in taking photos. I can only recommend the visit.

Beautiful! It was interesting to see -- from outside you would never expect to find this!
We had an excellent tour guide; I'm sure they are all good !!!
They help you with camera settings to get the best pictures, and make sure you get time to take all the pictures you want.

Beautiful canyon walk. Lots of time for pictures. Easy walk but steep stairs were challenging for some. We did notice that our tour guide didn’t offer much information compared to the guide on group in front of us, who had a steady stream of info.

Fantastic tour! Amazing and stunningly beautiful sandstone formations, and our guide (Ro) provided fantastic explanations and photographic assistance and tips. We would highly recommend this experience!

Lower Antelope Canyon was an amazing site to see and experience. The climb down was steep but manageable. We had an 8:30am tour which may not have had the ideal lighting but that didn’t take away from the beauty. The October weather was perfect and I would go back again.

Are all attractions in this area expensive? Can we tour Horseshoe Bend and the Upper Canyon by driving our own vehicle?

You can view Horseshoe Bend for a small parking fee. Just park in the lot and walk a smooth path. 1 mile round trip to the viewing area.
The upper and lower Antelope canyons are only available on a tour.

How difficult is the hike? Are the stairways hard to manage for someone who has some difficulty in walking but is not handicapped?

Once you’re in the canyon the hike is fine, the stairs down in might be a challenge. One or two of the sets of stairs is closer to being a ladder because it’s very steep, but there are railings

We booked 4 or 5 days in advance ... but the "best" times of day for the light (i.e., before 11:30 a.m.) were nearly full when we did so.
As for the light, our tour began at 8:15 a.m. and I saw the light beginning to wash out as the morning progressed. It's worth waking early - and booking as early as you need to.
