Benedict was an awesome tour guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly and articulate. The tour was a great combination of good food and drink and local history. We would highly recommend it!

Our tour guide Jess was FANTASTIC! She is a skilled storyteller and provided details about the places we went as well as history of the neighborhood. I felt like we were really getting the insider info on the unique intricacies of each small business. All the food was amazing, I was happily stuffed by the end of the tour and want to go back and check out many of the places!

I took my parents and in-laws on the Church Hill food Tour, and everyone had an amazing time. Benidict, our guide, was super passionate and knowledgeable. We learned so much about our own city whilst enjoying lovely walk through a quaint neighborhood broken up with several breathtaking views. The food of course was the star of the show. This was my second food tour- and both times I was amazed by the value! You get small plates at each stop, but it ends up being a TON of food! We had 6 stops- one was coffee, one was wine, and the rest was an eclectic authentic sampler plate of some of Church Hills hidden gems. My meat-and-potatoes dad shocked me when his favorite stop was Nile. Thanks, Benidict, for introducing my parents to Ethiopian cuisine, now a favorite!

Super awesome! I grew up in the surrounding Richmond area but don’t make it out to Church Hill often. It was great to hear the history and eat at local favorites. We went back to one of the spots right after the tour and saw one of the other couples who was with us. Obviously they had the same idea! Jessica was a great guide with great knowledge of the food and history of the area. This is the second food tour I’ve been on with Discover Richmond and I plan to try them all!

Such a great way to learn about the area. You stroll through the neighborhoods and learn a little of the history while discovering great places to eat. Benedict, our guide was great. Super knowledgeable and not only shared info about the food stops but also his insights to other great restaurants around. I can’t wait to come back and try some of his recommendations as well as revisit the places we stopped at. We happened to have a really great group of people too, fun getting to chat others along the way. Loved every single stop, hard to pick a favorite. A few tips, it’s primarily outdoors, dress accordingly and wear comfy shoes; bring a bottle of water; go the bathroom before; it’s carb heavy - all so delicious but if you are watching your waistline this may be tough; don’t eat before because you will leave feeling stuffed. Would highly recommend!

What a great tour! Jess was our guide and she knew all the historical tidbits about Church Hill. The stops on the tour did not disappoint. If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend this tour or any of the others!

Our tour guide, Lindsey, was friendly and very informative. She connected with so many people along the way and really knew her stuff! All the places we stopped were amazing. You should check them out! The Nile, Proper Pie, 81/2, Second Bottle, Riverbend Roastery and Sub Rosa - my friends and I plan to do another tour soon. :)

All the food was great ( pizza, hand pie, tacos, chocolate croissant, cold brew coffee) and the tour guide was well educated about tons of places to eat, cooking styles, how to reheat, etc.) and I would absolutely do it again. Be forewarned that there are very few places to use the restroom to wash your hands and very few places where you can sit and eat. This tour was entirely outside so if the restaurant didn’t have outside seating, you stood on the sidewalk. There was quite a bit of walking, fine for me, but a little too much for my 70 year old mom. I left her at the last stop, which thankfully had outside seating, and drove the car to pick her up. Neither of us could finish all the food and we took home leftovers.

You're right that this tour takes place almost entirely outside, and that's due to the nature of the restaurants we visit (many are not open inside), so we highlight there is a good amount of walking and standing on our website and in our confirmation email. However, you booked with a third party (Tripadvisor) and so you may not have had all the correct details about the experience. I hope you will join us on another food tour, one that is more indoors! Lots of food on this one. Fair amount of walking but nice to see the historic places. We had 11 people on our tour so it was nice to mingle with others from other places. We are from Smithfield. This was our second food tour from Discover Richmond.
