It was wonderful! The gift shop owner was very kind and fun! The owner was very talkative and asked about us and where we were from. He would check in on us and ask if we had questions. The displays were designed beautifully and the use of space was ingenious. We had a wonderful time and will be back again!

I took my mom and aunt to the museum. It was well worth the visit. The owner and family are so nice. We learned a lot of about turquoise. The gift shop is very nice.

Wonderful museum and shop

Our family visited the Albuquerque Turquoise Museum in July. We took the self-tour and enjoyed it very much. We were each able to go at our own pace and focus on our individual interests. It was very informative and fun. The shop has wonderful turquoise jewelry - we bought several pieces that we will treasure forever.

A quaint and unique collection
I was the only visitor on a mid-week afternoon and I was treated to a chat with the current curator and member of the family that owns this outstanding collection of specimens and information about turquoise. The info and specimens are well curated and extremely informative. It's a unique collection and I highly recommend spending the hour it takes to explore it.

Perfect Way to Spend a Morning or Afternoon

Wonderful family-run museum with passionate and expert owners who willingly answer questions, or leave you on your own to explore.. A gorgeous collection of mounted and unmounted stones, beautifully displayed in furniture-grade wooden cabinets, inside a "castle" with stained glass windows and mahogany floors. You can go just to admire the pretty pieces, or to spend more time and learn the process of mining, sorting, cutting, polishing and mounting these gemstones -- and some finished pieces are true works of art, Bonus: to the side of the Museum, with an entry off 2nd Street, is a spacious fenced parking lot, which is free. (You enter the Museum through double doors in that lot anyway; so you might as well park there!)

LEARN something at the turquoise museum

Fascinating display of all things turquoise. Explanations and exhibits filled two stores of this old mansion. It is NOT a museum for the quick visitor but for those who take the time to read, listen and learn, it's a wonderful experience.
The family who runs it is right there, knowledgeable and has an great number of stories....and all about turquoise!

An amazing place

This museum was fabulous! There is so much information here that it is hard to take it all in. We spent nearly 4 hours here and could have spent longer. The quantity and quality of turquoise items displayed was truly incredible. And the way they are displayed, in well thought out groups in beautiful cabinets, was pleasing. The building itself and all the beautiful antiques lent to the overall ambience. The place really opened my eyes about the history and types of turquoise available globally, and provided education about the many imitations. I'm going to need to spend more time learning to differentiate natural stone from the many imitations! Well worth the time.

Go go go to see the Turquoise Museum

The turquoise museum was awesome! If you’re planning a trip to Albuquerque, make sure you go to this wonderful museum. We met with the owner, Joe Dan, many times as he kept coming to see if we had any further questions, which, of course we did

The museum is in an old castle style building that used to be a private residence, which is amazing by itself.

Educational museum
Very informative and interesting museum, I only wish the website would have mentioned there was parking on site. Caution, there are a number of homeless and drug addicted individuals in the area of the museum.
