I was overwhelmed with awe! The museum provides the visitor with fascinating facts about the history of turquoise, especially in America, but also around the world. The specimens of the turquoise in its natural state as well as in its polished state from Egypt, Iran, Tibet, China and many more countries is fantastic! I learned so much about the gem and I just love it even more!
The Zachary and Lowry family have been involved in the turquoise trade for generations and have been instrumental in introducing people with the beauty of the varieties of the gem.
The most fascinating and even overwhelming information and history was of the imitation turquoise created from around the world. The imitations look and even feel like the natural stone. It’s absolutely amazing.
The current family members provide a wonderful and very interesting guide of this wonderful museum.
It’s a ‘must see’ in Albuquerque!

Greeted rudely , self guided tour. Not worth the $, the staff was only nice in the gift shop. Save your $ thi was not worth it it is a private museum.

Amazing tour today where we learned about everything turquoise but so much more! History, art, science, geology, trade, international politics, philosophy, psychology, religion and the list goes on... we stayed for 3 hours and I could have stayed longer. Beautiful and fascinating and gave me lots to think about after the tour. Highly recommend!

The turquoise collections were beautiful but the experience was soured completely by the owner who was a complete jerk. He argued with guests and said he would just throw them out if his rules weren't followed. Treated everyone like two year olds going to the principal's office at the beginning so no one would touch his antiques or he would throw them out. So pathetic. Will be praying for him.

What an interesting museum! We highly recommend to take the time to visit it. It has such a large display of turquoises from all over the world. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable!

This museum is structured for appointed time, no exceptions to getting in if late. The explanation was to give visitors a chance to self guide after seeing intro video and not be distracted by other visitors crowding for views. Appreciated the explanation. The museum is a labor of love to educate the public about turquoise. Gem quality vs other type of turquoise many people buy from numerous vendors. The best info is to know where the turquoise comes from authentically certified or verified from reputable dealer when buying gem quality for certain and other type turquoise also! The mansion museum is stunning. Looks more like a movie set. Very well organized. There are seats along the way to rest while you’re viewing. Overall this is a worthwhile stop in a city that has limited educational options.

Extraordinary museum! Privately owned, the exhibits focus on relevant information and education as opposed to donor information. I enjoyed all of the exhibits, but was particularly impressed with the international collection, displays of turquoise from different mines, and the processes used for imitation.
Owners were on site as curators and were very informative. Don't miss this gem of a museum.

This is like a dream come true for a turquoise enthusiast. The displays were so informative and the staff was amazingly frank and energetic. Questions were answered, but a panoply of new ones have been envisioned. Now I cannot wait to go back and start over.

We went to celebrate our dear friends birthday. She has a special place in her soul for turquoise. For myself, I intended to tag along for her benefit. However! What an amazing experience for the four of us!!! Nothing was left out in their presentations. Jacob was ever present and witty. Made us feel right at home and comfortable with all topics. I can assure you that your time will be well spent. Best recommendation is to order tickets for earlier in the morning to show enough time to take everything in!!! Arriving at 1:30 pm and leaving at 4 pm went way too too quick. We will be buying out turquoise from here from now on. Also the family involvement means so much to this experience. The history!!!! Precious.

Learned more about turquoise than I had in my whole life. I was able to read as much of the information as I wanted without ever feeling rushed. I also appreciated being able to speak with the owner about how turquoise is valued.

What is the difference between theTurquoise Museum Visit, which receives 1 “Excellent” and 3 “Very good” reviews and the actual Turquoise Museum relieves 276 Reviews, mostly excellent? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Can we purchase tickets to the museum without taking your tour, which appears to have little too recommend it?

The Turquoise Museum is fairly recently opened in a new loction, The Castle. The reviews for tours are probably at the old location. We were the first tour at the new location and it was well worth it. We will probably go back and do the tour again in a year.

Private parking lot on the side of the gift shop entrance. There is a ramp for people with disabilities.
