The app was difficult to use. I bought 2 tickets yet couldn’t load the second app for my husband.
The tour said that I could leave at any time and would resume. The app kept repeating itself on the same first location and wouldn’t stop no matter where we were.

Hi Alice, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced. After booking, you should receive an email with setup instructions and a tutorial video to make things easier. Once downloaded, the tour works offline, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Remember that the tour begins at a specific starting point, where narrations trigger automatically, and there’s a play/pause option to control the audio. If your husband’s device is running iOS 14 or later or Android 9 (Pie) or later, the app should download smoothly; however, repeatedly closing the app may cause the welcome audio to replay, so leaving it open will prevent this. For any additional help, feel free to contact our support team. Your tour is valid for a year, so we hope you’ll give it another try for a great experience!

It was our first time trying a self-guided tour and it was great! My husband and I shared audio and for us it aggravated my husband when his disconnected (no fault of tour). My suggestion would have been to purchase 2 tour downloads to avoid the issue. This tour doesn't include stops at the house of seven gables and the witch house but we were able to visit them. A lot of walking! Be prepared with comfy shoes.

This was a great walking tour that we were able to do at our own pace! Being October in Salem, I knew the crowds would be crazy and I wasn’t up for taking a traditional walking tour and struggling to hear the guide. We easily downloaded the app onto our iPhones and could listen with the volume as high as we needed with our EarPods.
One note: we had a couple of family members that we met up with who also wanted purchase this tour but they had older phones and could not download the app because it wasn’t compatible with their phone models.

Not worth the fee per person. Everything offered you could do on your own for free! Best to pay for guided tour with knowledgeable person. Never a good idea to wait till day of to choose to purchase event tickets. Our tour group was definitely not prepared or organized for the day.

Self guided tour was a little choppy-sometimes we were standing in the circle where it app should have activated and nothing happened. In other cases, the walking guidance was very clear and helpful.

Very informative and interesting tour. Our guide was bubbly and excited to do her tour. Appreciated her interest in the group and our overall experience during the tour. There was a couple places that we stopped in close proximity to but weren't able to actually go in front of that she spoke about like the old witch jail. I wish we could have gotten a little bit closer but the overall tour was definitely great and I would recommend.

Nicole, this is a self-guided audio walking tour of Historic Salem and the Witch Trials, which you can do via the app provided right after purchase. The app and tour need to be downloaded beforehand since it works offline. The tour is valid for a year, and my support team is always here to help if needed. Really good audio tour- we purchased 2 and both wore airpods throughout. We loved that it was self-guided and could pause whenever we wanted to stop or go off route, and that weren’t held to a group schedule. I would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting Salem that’s not keen on gimmicky tours.

The best feature of this self-guided tour is its flexibility; you can complete the tour at your own pace. This walking tour is four miles long; for a better experience, I recommend walking the full route and listening to the stories about the locations while taking breaks. Yes, the Salem tour is newly available in both English and Spanish! When you book the tour, you’ll get a link to our app and a password to access the tour within. When you enter the password, you’ll see both versions of the tour. Download the Spanish one. (Just be sure to download ahead of time when in wifi).

You don’t have to change anything, even if your plans change! Once you book, you have access forever. So even if you adjust your trip by a day or so, or if you split the tour up over a few days, or if you want to go back again later — no worries.

Great question! Yes, you’ll get to see everything in Salem with this one tour, from witch trial sites to great architecture to historic homes. The tour also comes with two additional detour excursions, which you can choose to do if you have the time! Basically you don’t have to add any extra tours on top of this one if you don’t want to.
