I used their service three times while in Belize. I was impressed all three times. Once was to Monkey River with Evers, second with Ian to Cockscomb for a hike and tubing, and the third was our shuttle from Placencia to Sleeping Giant.
All our services with Barefoot were top notch. It was easy to book and always on time.
I was extremely impressed for a shared tour. Pickups were prompt and Evers was great at sharing where he grew up. The meal there was best we had in all of our 14 day visit to Belize, including some very high end spots. Evers had a sharp eye for wildlife and if the animal is close to the river, he would spot it. If there is only one excursion you are doing in Placentia, this is one of the one.
Then there private tours. We had a tour with Ian. He picked us up promptly for a tour of the Cockscomb Reserve. Ian was an awesome tour guide. He gave us the right amount of history and hiking for a great day in Belize. We did hiking and rafting and enjoyed both. You would find that Ian feels out his client and tailor makes it for their experience. I was very impressed with him. He went at our pace. When he knew we liked hiking, he picked up the pace. Another treat on this adventure is a stop in a small Mayan village on the road where we turned to go up to the reserve. There was a great chocolate shop, gift shop and outdoor café. Ian was great a choosing some dishes for us at the café that he knew we would like. These were included in the tour cost. Overall, an amazing day with him.
The next day Ian drove us to our next destination on the Hummingbird Highway. Along the way we spoke a lot on the history and sights we were seeing. He has a great knowledge of the area and is very easy to talk to.
I would highly recommend Ian and Evers as tour guides and strongly suggest you use Barefoot as your go to service for Hopkins and Placencia

Highly recommend this excellent tour with of the Monkey River by boat, and manatee watching on the ocean. We were lucky to have close- up views of howler monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, lizards, turtles, dozens of bird species, baby and mama manatees, etc. Our Jeremy is a village local and is a top-captain and naturalist. We loved our lunch at the village and our driver Edgar is also an accomplished naturalist himself, giving us lots of wonderful information while we drove to/from Placencia.

Our guide picked us up on the water just across the street from our hotel. Monkey River was quite a distance from the mainland and we thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride there and back. Seeing starfish and manatees was amazing and definitely the highlight of my trip.
If you are the type of person that does not like to disturb wildlife in their habitat don’t go. After a short hike the guides make a lot of noise that DISTURBS the monkeys and makes them howl. Wonder how guides know right where the monkeys will be? On our trip the guide encouraged someone to pick up a starfish.
This is the reason I don’t recommend.
We had a beautiful, long ride back on the water which I loved.

All guides howler at the monkeys once they are in the jungle as that's how you're able to find and see them. As the howler back to you. However, I am glad you still enjoyed your trip overall.

We had a great time on this tour. Our guide Alex was very informative and friendly. The ride itself was so relaxing and we saw lots of wildlife (birds, manatee, crocodiles, monkeys and a tarantula!) A special call out to Rose in reservations who helped arrange it all. She was so helpful and responsive up until the day of the tour.

This was a great tour. We booked while staying with Jaguar Reef Lodge and got to go out with Terry from Monkey River Village. We saw howler monkeys, crocs, tarantulas, lots of birds, manatees, rays, iguanas, and probably other things I forgot about. You also get to visit Monkey River Village for lunch (we had stew chicken and snook) and it was great food. Our kids (3,6,8) were along and loved it as well. Terry was an amazing guide with his knowledge and storytelling and answered everyone of our questions. Surprised there aren't more reviews for this tour but it is worth your time and money. There were lots of bugs so be prepared with spray.

Our guide was Ralph. They should nickname him "eagle eye" He saw birds and monkeys and crocodiles all day long. He was great! Bring your bug spray or wear long pants. We saw a ton of monkeys and Manatees on the way back to the marina. Ralph was informative and he lives right on the river and he knew it well. Other tours went flying by us, and missed birds and even monkeys. We did lunch at Alice's restaurant and it was delicious. Highly recommend this tour! ENJOY!
