Experiencia increíble e inolvidable. Si ya la magia de Costa Rica te atrapa, Johnny es la guinda del pastel. Una capacidad para detectar animales increíble, una afición y un gusto por su trabajo que se notan y un sentido del humor que da el toque final. Ha sido super divertido, enriquecedor y muy ameno. Me he reído, he aprendido y se me ha pasado volando!!

Book right now! Johnny was an amazing guide, we had so much fun, the trip was informative, exciting and generally one of the best experiences on the trip. Our transport to the meeting point failed, but Johnny was quick to pick us up when we needed it. You can tell he cares about the community, the forrest and the animals. Good opportunities for photos and seeing all kinds of animals up close with very knowledgeable guides (i wanted to put some of the photos up but my wifi is at the hostel is very bad)

DO NOT BOOK WITH JOHNNY LOVES NATURE ECO TOURS.
I booked the Monteverde Rain Forest Night walk with them on this website two days before we were to go. They took the money immediately and said they will send an email within one hour with the details. I kept checking the entire day but nothing in my junk mail either. The morning of the night walk I sent a message through their website requesting the details of meeting place/pickup time etc. again it said someone will get back with the details. Waited till 3p.m then had our tour manager call them. They said they had our name and to meet them somewhere at 5p.m.
At this point I had lost the trust and wanted to cancel. They said they will only refund half the money. Needless to say we lost our money and an opportunity to go for the night walk.

Hello, thank you for your comment, we usually have a 12-hour cancellation policy, if you change your decision 2 hours before the tour starts just because you feel like just don´t joint the group..
You wrote me to ask if you could do the tour earlier but you couldn't since the 5:30 pm tour was full, I'm sorry this also happens to hotel owners and their receptionists it's a bit strange for us, plus we are aware that the receptionists of local hotels earn a commission for selling tours to customers so in many cases they will do what they can to misinform tour operators like me who offer our products online, I agree that receptionists earn extra but the problem is that the owners and receptionists of the hotels want to earn from 50% to 75% of the total amount of the tour just for offering the service, which seems a bit exaggerated to me and this is one more case of this problem that greatly affects tourist activity, making the price of the tour more expensive for tourists so that the middle man can earn more
That is why I recommend visitors to book directly with local tour operators and get rid of those inflated rates by hotel owners and receptionists.

We have enjoyed our night tour with Johnny ! We were able to observe several snakes, ( one up in a tree), frogs(
The red eye and another tiny brown) a hummingbird sleeping and another bigger bird , one mammal ( same family as raccoons )very high in a tree and a young tarentula in her burrow !no luck for toucan or sloth!
Our guide was very knowledgeable ! Great experience !

Siamo stati prelevati al nostro hotel e dopo averci fornito di torce, per chi non le aveva, siamo partiti per la camminata notturna.
La nostra guida probabilmente era di fretta perché abbiamo fatto i sentieri ad una velocità poco sostenibile, anche perché c’erano salite, rami, ostacoli sul sentiero… una coppia di anziani dietro di me infatti si è lamentata della velocità del passo della guida dicendo che non riuscivano a stargli dietro. Io stessa ho fatto fatica.
Quindi con questo ritmo sostenuto, pur tenendo le torce attese, era praticamente impossibile vedere qualsiasi animale… la guida ci ha detto che stavamo cercando degli occhi scintillanti tra foglie e rami ma a quella velocità di passo, dovendosi concentrare anche sul non inciampare, ripeto che era praticamente impossibile vedere qualsiasi animale.
Infatti gli unici avvistamenti che abbiamo fatto sono stati due serpenti, perché c’erano ferme altre guide a guardarli, un gufo perché ci è volato proprio sopra la testa e un kinkajou, sempre avvistato da un’altra guida quindi ci siamo fermati anche noi.
Il mio consiglio è magari fare un sentiero più corto (noi abbiamo fatto 3,2 Km) ad un passo più lento per concentrarsi meglio su quello che si potrebbe avvistare.

Johnny is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a wooly opposum, red eyed river frog, various interesting insects, pit vipers, and even a sleeping hummingbird and toucan. Much fun!

Johnny was the absolute best! We saw sloths, vipers, armadillo, monkeys, parrots, cool bugs, frogs, and a rare marta! He found tons of animals for us that even other guides couldn't find. Johnny is incredibly talented and passionate and we had a blast! He's very knowledgeable and also helped take a ton of impressive photos of animals at night.

It was a good hike. We signed up with Johnny and our guide didn't indicate that he wasn't Johnny which was weird. We actually found out a few days later when we did another hike with actual Johnny. Unlike other people who had bad experiences with outheir substitute guide, we had a great time, saw some cool stuff and the guide was great at involving our 2 year old. Also the website says tickets for 2+ but apparently you don't actually have to pay for a little kid so that would have been cool to know
