We took our eight year old granddaughter to Penang with us. We really enjoyed our time there and a highlight was the fabulous food. We stayed at the Jen Shangrila in George Town for a few days and then transferred to the Park Royal at Batu Ferringhi. We were extremely well looked after at both hotels. We visited Monkey Beach, Entopia, A Dinosaur Exhibition, tried the Rainbow Skywalk, went up Penang Hill in a four wheel drive vehicle and visited the shopping malls. The night market at Batu Ferringhi was fun. Great place to take kids as there is lots for them to see. The pool area at the Park Royal was great place to relax. Lots of friendly people and we hope to get back again soon.

Jenny was very detailed in her instructions during our cooking class, she really goes above and beyond…great class! She taught us how to make several tasty dishes.

Great cooking class. Well organised. Expert local tuition. I have enjoyed several,cooking classes by various providers. This course met my expectations. The market tour & breakfast was excellent. The tuition & local dishes cooked were well planned & presented. My only recomendations to improve the course would be to have a work station/hot plate for each student or couple. Rather than sharing & rotating the tasks/cooker. I understand this is more difficult to provide, however that is what I had experienced else where and what we will experience at home. Many thanks to the team & other participants.

FABULOUS! We will work on improving our kitchen in the near future. We will look into upgrading to allowed customers to have Thier own Stations.

Everything about this experience was lovely. The morning market tour with Simon was really informative. I learned about new herbs and spice combinations. I loved that we made a few stops to pick up some groceries from the local vendors before heading to breakfast.
After breakfast, the cooking class was on a floor above the local market. Chef Amy and her assistant were amazing. Chef Amy was calm, organized, and a very patient teacher. She taught me how to make a few dishes including ondeh-ondeh, char kway teow and more. I felt like I was learning precious family recipes from a close aunty!
Thank you Chef Amy and Simon for making my first visit to Penang so memorable. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you Simon and also thank you to Ms. Santi and two enthusiastic Auntie. Always wanted to try cooking lessons in different places, didn't think of the first time dedicated to the city! Located on the oldest market floor in Taipei, this cooking class has a history of more than two hundred years and witnesses a mixture of diverse cultures.
Thank you Simon for taking us to the traditional market, getting to know the ingredients used in the course in advance, and also to learn more about how the city has fostered a unique culture. Ms. Santi’s teaching is careful and gentle, giving us more confidence to practice. All morning, we learned five delicious dishes from main meal to dessert, and after the course, we can get detailed recipes, which is worth it.
This experience gives people a lot of fruit, in the future, if there are friends coming to the city, I will definitely recommend this cooking lesson.

Amy’s cooking class was an excellent family experience. The market tour in the morning was a great way to learn some history about Penang and the ingredients being used. We shared a very tasty local breakfast next to the markets. The cooking school was very clean and spacious. The Amy and the team take their time to teach you how to cook delicious authentic Malaysian food, and are some of the nicest people we have met on our holiday. I would highly recommend this as a great way to spend some time while in Georgetown, especially if you are travelling as a family.

Best introduction to Nonya food I could have hoped for. Amy was an excellent and knowledgeable teacher; the immaculate kitchen setting easy to work in and cooled by several industrial fans; easy to access markets. Menu was delicious and there were lots of tricks of the trade thrown in. Brilliant way to start your holiday as you are then well versed in local specialties and have a better understanding of the local history and culture. Tour guide Simieon was very personable and knowledgeable and Mok took photos, sent through recipes and was so helpful and generous. Full marks all round; do yourself a favour and do this class!
