My son is an expert, but with Taos being a bit more than average terrain i got him a lesson the first day. My son said the instructor was awesome. I saw the way they lined everyone up in the morning and it was well organized. He got a lot out of his lesson and said it was well worth the effort to have a lesson.

My 10 year old daughter skied for the first time here at Taos ski school. She honestly didn’t want to do it and I had to make her. Fast forward to lunch during her lesson… she was hooked! Her instructors cared and really seemed to enjoy their job. They went of their way to make all the kids feel like they were rocking it at skiing. My daughter did great and even snuck in a few extra slopes. I don’t recall her instructors name, but he was amazing. Really. 10/10 for the whole staff at the ski school.

I spent a total of two full days in classes with Stuart and had an amazing experience. I booked one full day and then added another because of the progress and positive experience that I had. Would absolutely recommend Stuart!

My 8 year old niece took lessons, she was anxious at first but mid day she did not want to leave, my brother extended her lesson for the rest of the day!
Great instructors, very patient and doing a fantastic job!

My daughter had a wonderful time at the school.
This was her second time skiing, and there was so much improvement.
Two other youth were at the school as well. They went from knowing nothing to actually skiing in a day. It was very nice to have the instructors talk to me before they let the youth leave at the end of the day.

The ski school is truly awesome. My kids age 5,7,9 y.o enjoyed their classes and instructors tremendously. We initially only signed them up for 1 day to see if they like, oh no they LOVE it. My kids had never skied before. The 7&9 y.o could stop and make turn after 1d and could go down the green bunny slope and between the trees on the 3rd day. The 5 y.o could stop and make turns after 2nd day. So in all we sent them for 3d at ski school and last day we skied down together as family. I also took a 2.5 hr intermediate adult ski lesson because I could never properly go down blue trail without falling, it was the best $75 ever spent. Rick took the three of us down the trails and took sufficient break and gave good tips as we skied down together, I think it was the calmest downhill skiing i ever did my entire life. Salute to Taos ski school team!

I’m thankful for all the ski instructors I’ve had here this season and there is no better way to experience Taos Ski Valley for any level of skier than accompanied by these world class ski instructors!! Irene offers amazing ski instruction! Other talented ski school teachers include Kent and Richie! They’re all highly skilled and ready to assist whether that be in private lessons or group class. The best way to experience the mountain in a fun and safe way!!

Brought the kids to get their first lessons and they love it.
They have time to talk, they are fed and the staff is very courteous.
My wife learnt there 30 years ago...
Can not recommend it any higher!

Toas Ski School is amazing our kids loved going and their confidence was through the roof by the second day. They do an amazing job of motivating the kids and have small class sizes . My daughter was so scared to try skiing and they put her mind at ease. I think doing two days really helped my kids get used to skiing and learn the skills needed to go again next time. It was well worth the money .

My 11 yr old had skiied once before two years ago so we decided to do a morning of ski school to see how things went. It was a great decision. He had such a great time. He loved the instructors and was given adequate personalized instruction. He felt like the pace was good for him- he did not feel like he was pushed too hard or held back. After just the morning session, his confidence on the skis was obviously greatly improved and he was very excited about skiing. He chose to stay in the school zone and ski the entire afternoon. The children's center is very nice, modern, and nut free! The staff are trained to use epipens and were happy to keep my son's emergency medication while he was in their care. Highly recommend this program.

Great reviews. Is there a place on site to rent ski outfits? I'm trying to avoid the purchase of a ski outfit.

Hi there Alero and anyone else who needs to rents ski clothes and skis/boards - try Cottam’s in the town of Taos - they rent ski clothes in addition to skis. They also have a Cottam’s on premise at Taos Ski Valley (green roofs). If you book ahead on-line, you save a little more. I’d look them up and call them first so they can walk you through the process.

Can anyone tell me what the cost is for one day or a couple hours of lessons? Does it include equipment? Lift ticket for a day or half-day?

Check the TaosSkiValley web site for current pricing. TSV has some of the best instructors in the world with quite a few who have taught there for over 30 years and most of the new guys have been there for 20. The lift tickets come in a variety of packages (1/2 day, full day, multi-day, season tix, etc. You can rent whatever equipment you need - skis, boots, poles, goggles, gloves & helmets (not sure if they are required but everyone wears one. The ski school is next door to the lift ticket booths and the Taos ski equipment rentals and sales is across the street.
Also Cottams is a local family run ski equipment rentals & sales with locations in the TSV village and in Taos Town and are good place to shop. The Cottam family runs a Rio Grande River rafting excursions during the warmer months.
