We were looking for something to do while our kids in their 20’s skied. This was the perfect thing to try. Neither of us have been snowmobiling. I felt perfectly safe and not once was scared. For anyone wanting a scenic tour plus some great conversation this tour is a perfect way to see Taos Ski Valley. ❤️

Never got out of first gear and went 6mph. Stopped every few min and big Al was almost hostile to the group while we choked on carbon monoxide for a 13 person caravan. Pretty tough and wouldn’t recommend unless wanted for a very slow and rigid experience.

Stayed at arroyo seco right off 230 which joins up with 150 to drive into the ski valley. The organization at the ski valley was superb with folks directing traffic, getting rentals for ski gear and registering for ski school. Kids’ ski school is a gondola ride away. The food was the usual ($15) for burgers that were reasonable. Drinks were $9/beer and $15 for excellent Bloody Mary. The lines for the lifts were minimal. The slopes were somewhat skinny though.
Taos Pueblo and the local cuisine is excellent. Went to Antonio’s, Sabroso and La Cueva. You can’t go wrong.

The views on this tour are wonderful. You go up high into the terrain and at one point you get a beautiful view and photo op. Big Al was thorough and provided great safely training. A few disappointments. It's a slow ride. If you are looking for thrill seeking, this is not your tour. Average speed was 8-10 MPH (last tour I did in Whistler we went 15-25mph so this was much different). We only stopped for one photo op, passing by a few others was disappointing. From the time we got on the sled and starting moving until we returned and got off the sleds was only 75 minutes. So a short riding time. The rest was signing waivers and transportation on the bus up the mountain to the sleds and back. $110 for a 75 minute ride is a bit pricy for me. It's not a terrible tour, but I was hoping for more action and more photo opportunities with a chance to look around and enjoy the beautiful views.

My family (with 2 teens) thoroughly enjoyed this snowmobile tour in Taos, It was one of the highlights of our trip to New Mexico. I was skeptical after reading some of the negative reviews, but my 15 year old really wanted to snowmobile so I booked this tour. I found Al and Richard to be friendly and no-nonsense. The other reviews that talk about Al's focus on safety were spot on. As someone who grew up snowmobiling, it was a bit excessive but I understand the need to make sure everyone knew what to do. The ride itself was beautiful. I agree with other reviews that we didn't go very fast, but it was still a great way to spend a couple hours enjoying the amazing mountains of Taos.

The tour was alright, great scenery, but we were given literally 1 minute (he said "you have ONE MINUTE!") to take pictures at the top. At every point of the experience we felt rushed and moved on to the next thing a little bit like cattle. I barely could take a picture of the machine at the end because they were ushering us so quickly away back to the shuttle bus.

The worst thing though, and the reason for the 1-start review instead of a 2 or a 3, was that the main guy, a colorful cowboy-looking man, was rude and short with us, and everyone else, over and over again. He would talk to the group in a very impatient manner, interrupted and cut short any question, screamed at my father when he was not understanding, and would not listen to me when I tried to tell him that I needed to translate for my family, as they don't understand english very well. He had no patience for anyone unless they nodded and smiled.

Sign up for this if you want the cattle ranch experience, but don't expect to be treated like a human.

I’ll start with the good: The views from the snowmobile were stunning!! We felt very safe during the ride. I was the caboose of the group and the guide behind me constantly checked on me and encouraged me throughout the ride as I was a novice.

The weather was unbelievably cold!! The temperature was around 18 degrees but the wind chill was well below zero. We had our two children (9 and 7) with us. They are both well traveled, very adventurous children but they HATED every minute of it. My nine year old literally cried the entire ride. Our hands and feet were numb and burning miserably just a few minutes into the ride. No one told me about heated handlebars so I am not sure if mine were working or not - it definitely didn’t seem to be working. I have to say we were appropriately dressed but maybe needed better gloves. We had winter proof gloves but they were NOT enough. Please keep this in mind - it would have made all the difference had our hands not been so uncomfortable.

I didn’t find the customer service to be particularly good. I had many interactions with Daniel on the phone prior to my visit. He wasn’t very kind and was quite condescending when I asked general questions - it was our first time in the area and snowmobiling. In addition, Big Al can be quite abrupt in his communication but overall he wasn’t too bad. They kept emphasizing that we had to pay in cash and that if we were late, they would charge my credit card the full price. I didn’t appreciate that at all especially getting it in writing via text the morning of.

If you are looking for something fun and adventurous, you will love this. I just wouldn’t recommend bringing young children and please dress warmer than you think you should. For reference, I had 3 pairs of pants (one thermal), two shirts (one thermal), ski jacket, two pairs of socks, thermal boots and winter proof gloves. My body was fine but my hands and feet were numb and burning from near frost bite by the end.

First time snowmobiling with the family and we had a great time! We appreciated Big Al’s safety and concern for all on the tour. Would love to do it again but would recommend taking a earlier tour time slot. The 3:15 tour ended up becoming soooo cold when the sun goes down!

Want to enjoy spectacular mountain scenery on a laid back two hour snowmobile tour? Join Big Al as he guides you through trails in the Carson National Forest to sweeping scenic views.

After being met at the Taos Ski Valley parking lot, the souped up school bus "limo" took us up the mountain to the trailhead to start our "private" tour. Fortunately, Big Al took our party of two for a late afternoon run. A quick intro to the snowmobile was followed by a couple of hours exploring the trails.

From faces carved into the trees to a hawk that swooped down to pick up a white rabbit that was not camouflaged in the snow, many surprises were around the bends on the snow covered roads. Nice to climb up the mountain to get a couple of panoramic views at over 12,000 feet.

Cost was $90 per person for the tour. Cash only. Dress warmly. Bring snow goggles and gloves. Safety is a priority. Masks required. Big Al checks in on you frequently. Great way to spend an afternoon on a sunny winter day.

Did the snowmobiling tour with Big Al on January 7, 2021 and it was great! The tour was 2 hours long but enjoyed it so much it felt as if it were only 30 minutes. They only accept cash and also no restrooms during the tour.
