It is a scenic spot that is a standard sightseeing spot in Fukui. The columnar joints and the Sea of Japan view are wonderful. On the day I visited, the Sea of Japan was calm. A fighter jet from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture, was flying low.
There are no shadows, so ultraviolet measures are necessary on a sunny day. I took a bus from Mikuniminato Station on the Echizen Railway. It is recommended to check the return bus time when you arrive.

It was exactly what I saw in the photo :) The precipitous scenery is stunning from above and below. It is recommended that you board a pleasure boat and watch the rock face from the venue. Please listen to the gag of the Guide (male) on the cruise ship lol

Tojinbo was something I wanted to visit at least once. Arrive before 10:00 on weekdays in August. There were still few tourists and parking was available. The parking lot I used was owned by a souvenir shop, and it was a system where you could get 500 yen back for parking if you purchased more than 2,000 yen a day from that souvenir shop. The sea was blue, the waves were calm, the horizon was endless, and the scenery was magnificent. I could walk on the rocks at my own risk, so I saw people descending to the rocks below. We just looked at it from above.
By the time I got back, the parking lot was filling up, so maybe you want to go from 9 to 10.

Tojinbo is a rare beauty spot with a series of sheer cliffs roughly cut by wave erosion.
The dynamic beauty of the formations created by mother nature is fascinating.
Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to take the Tojinbo Sightseeing Boat Tour around Tojinbo and the nearby Oshima Island.

I've been there many times, and it's a major scenic spot in Fukui Prefecture, so I always stop by. It's also a great spot for groups such as recreational trips. It used to be famous as a suicide spot, but I think that image has faded a lot now. The cliffs are a sight to behold, and you can look up at them from below on a sightseeing boat. It's rough and you'll be walking on the rocks, so it's best to avoid high heels. There are several parking lots, most of which cost 500 yen. From the parking lot to the rocks, there are a row of souvenir shops and seafood restaurants, so it's fun just to walk around and look at them.

A national natural monument. I wonder if the extension of the Shinkansen to Fukui will have an effect. It takes less than 40 minutes by bus from Awara Onsen Station for 790 yen to reach Tojinbo. Tojinbo Tower will welcome you. The tower entrance fee of 500 yen is probably reasonable. It takes about 10 minutes from the bus stop to reach the observation deck with the Tojinbo sign. The area is well maintained and there is a coffee shop that looks like a Starbucks. If you have time, the uninhabited island of Oshima is also worth a visit.

This was my first time at Tojinbo!
In one word, it's incredibly impressive!
I was mesmerized by the rare view.
Although the wind was strong that day, the waves were calm and there were tours running (although I wasn't able to go due to time constraints).

We visited with a small child and an elderly person in a wheelchair.
First of all, the parking lot was difficult to find. In the end, after much searching, we found a place where we could park in the souvenir shop's car park and then take the elevator down in our wheelchair.
We knew that it would be difficult for wheelchairs as it is a natural rocky area, but the souvenir shop area was also wheelchair-unfriendly. Is there anything that can be done these days? It was a tourist spot that was a bit disappointing for a family like us.

Until the Dinosaur Museum was built, Fukui's image was that Tojinbo was the only tourist destination, but with the opening of the Dinosaur Museum, the synergistic effect may bring it back to life. The road from the parking lot to Tojinbo is fun, with souvenir shops and restaurants where you can eat seafood.
If there is one drawback, it is that you cannot get a good view of the cliffs of Tojinbo from the spot on the signboard for the Tojinbo Quasi-National Park. I wish they would put some thought into putting up a sign.

After getting off the bus, it's a five-minute walk along a street lined with fishmongers and souvenir shops to reach the sheer cliffs of Tojinbo. It was bitterly cold with a light snowfall, but the waves crashing violently against the rocks were a magnificent sight.
In suspense dramas, this is the place where a criminal cornered by a veteran detective would break down in tears and confess to the crime.

Hi, should we take Keifuku bus to Tojinbo from Mikuni or Mikuniminato ? And how to find the bus stop and the timetable ? How do we pay for the bus? Thank you so much.

When I went to Tojinbo I took keifuku bus from Awara-onsen station. You can buy bus ticket and find the timetable at the ticket counter of this station but I’m sorry I don’t know about Mikuni station :(
You can search "京福バス 時刻表 東尋坊", then you may know how to go and the timetable.
And I’m sorry for my poor English...hope you can understand :)
