Kamisu Central Park is a disaster prevention park built on the site of the former Ministry of Construction's Public Works Research Institute Kashima Laboratory. It covers a vast area of about 21 hectares and is beautifully maintained and managed. There is a small hill in the center. This is Fureai-no-Oka (a hill 15m above sea level, with an elevation of over 10m, allowing approximately 1,500 people to evacuate). The impressive building is the "KAMISU BOUSAI ARENA". It can accommodate 10,000 people as an evacuation shelter in the event of a disaster. In addition, it is equipped with a stockpile warehouse (stocked with food, drinking water, blankets, equipment, etc.), a heliport, drinking water, disaster prevention toilets, and a private generator. I wonder if these facilities are capable of handling a disaster on the scale of the Great East Japan Earthquake?

神栖にある中央公園は、広く家族連れやカップル・ご夫婦で行かれるのが良いかと思います。
3.11の東日本大震災の時に高台がない神栖市では、防災拠点として公園を整備し、津波等からの被害を避けるため整備されました。
音楽イベント等が開かれる時もあります。ゆっくりとした時の流れを感じてみてください。
