I first visited in 1983. It was an amazing moment to engage with nature. Haitian friends encouraged my visit and we went together. More recently, 2013 I revisited the site with my adult son and a young friend. I went to see if it still existed because a hydro power project had been planned and implemented. Fortunately, it was less spoiled than I had feared. The leap from the top takes nerve and guidance but is relatively safe, but daringly crazy too.

I highly recommend visiting Saut-Mathurine when in Les Cayes and surrounding areas. The view of the fall is better when there is water. I visited it at least 3 times but never had the chance to be in the water. Next time, i will definitely do it.

I don't know where to begin this hotel is a beautiful hotel. the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs .the food was delicious the rooms were always spotless and clean the staff was so friendly and whenever you need them you can find them one night we went out on the town and we came really late. they save some food for us I mean wow what a wonderful staff I would definitely stay here again🏝😍😘 had a wonderful time and it is very family friendly!!!!!!!

I was with a disaster relief team of 12 based in Les Cayes for a week, rebuilding walls at a local orphanage and ministry. Most of our days were spent shoveling gravel, mixing mortar, and carrying cinder blocks.
On Sunday, some of the staff of the orphanage offered to take us to a local waterfall they thought we would enjoy seeing. They were so right! We traveled about 45 minutes on the back of pickup trucks to Saut Mathurine. The route seemed so off the beaten path, had our drivers not known where they were going, I would have assumed we had missed it. We finally arrived, parked near the gate, and paid a fee of sorts to a custodian at the gatehouse, per our driver's suggestion. I think we paid $20 to cover our team of 12 plus guides. Coincidentally, we met a UN envoy from Bangladesh who was also visiting the spot.
You can see the waterfall halfway down the path, which is incredible in itself, but it is truly magnificent when you reach the bottom and can look up at it. The location is so picturesque, with the waterfall cascading into an aquamarine swimming hole. We came dressed in our swim trunks, and we didn't hesitate to hop in. After an initial jolt of cold, you quickly adjust to the temperature. The water gets very deep toward the middle, but we swam across to the waterfall to climb up and jump...which we did several times. Some were brave enough to jump from the very top of the falls, but I'm not afraid to say I settled for halfway up. This was the highlight of our trip, and a refreshing break from the hard work of wall-building.
If you are in the area, I definitely recommend you make this a stop, whether you plan to jump in or just enjoy the view. I do suggest you make absolutely you know where you're going if you plan to go independently. Better yet, hire a guide.

Honnêtement une des meilleures expériences que j'ai jamais eu la chance de vivre. Se baigner sous une gigantesque chute où on est entourer de jungle à perte de vue, c'est une expérience de vie extraordinaire. À faire absolument.

La route Nationale no 7 au début est asphaltée, après la 2e route empruntée va vous décourager mais rester positf......continuer la petite route en terre battue est très calme mais vous n'allez pas le regretté. C'est tout un autre monde à Saut-Mathurine.

I've been to Saut-Mathurine three times over the last 1.5 years, and there has never been a waterfall. It seems water is being diverted to a hydroelectric power plant. Can anyone confirm? The basin is beautiful however.

A voir si vous venez dans le secteur de Camp Perrin, et surtout apres de fortes pluies car le debit est enorme. De voir les jeunes sautes du haut est aussi fabuleux. Un bon moment de detente.
