I wish I can bring more people to this experience. I came to this Acetaia knowing little of balsamic and leaving with an immense appreciation for the tradition and stories that make up Castelfranco Emilia and Modena. You gain a respect for the love that goes into producing balsamic. I was lucky to have been the only one booked that day and got a one on one experience with the owner Barbara who was very hospitable. She immediately welcomed me into her home and as soon as she was ready, brought me up to her Acetaia where I was met by the enthralling smell of the vinegar and the rows of barrels. She explained the history and stories that came with barrels. I honestly cannot look at balsamic vinegar the same way again. Barbara took the time and made sure I wasn’t left with any questions. After spending time in the Acetaia, we went to the shop where I got to taste the different vinegars and truly understood why it was worth learning what goes behind making true balsamic. I ended up buying a bottle which was reasonably priced. Not everyday you can buy something from someone with a product made by their own hands.
A bit of information: the property is about a 10 min. drive from the Castelfranco Emilia station. Sofia was able to arrange transportation for me. I ended up paying about 30 euros going to and from which was reasonable, but it’s surely accessible if you have your own vehicle. I also thought being late was a problem since the trains the day of were having delays. I still made it in time, but Sofia is accessible through email so I had no problems.

Wir haben heute auf unserer Hochzeitsreise die Acetaia Malagoli Daniele besucht. Obwohl wir nicht reserviert oder uns telefonisch angemeldet hatten, wurden wir herzlich empfangen. Barbara, die Seele des Hauses hat uns Ihr Handwerk und Ihre Verbundenheit mit dem Aceto Basamico Traditionale di Modena nahe gebracht, sodass wir mit Ihr mitfühlen konnten. Sie hat uns Ihr Lebenswerk sehr emotional und ehrlich dargestellt. Aceto Balsamico traditionale DOP ist reines Handwerk! Dazu gehört Ruhe und Ausdauer und die Liebe an der Arbeit. Sie ist die Einzige, die ausschließlich die Qualität DOP anbietet! Barbara wir werden wiederkommen.

We stumbled upon this activity after tasting some of the most wonderful balsamic at the cheese factory. We didn't have a booking but Barbara was more than accomodating to let us in when we arrived at her gate and into her home. We learnt some very interesting histroy of the house, her family and of course what we were there for.. the vinegar. We were blown away by the tradition and history involved as well as the sheer volume of barrels stored in her attic.
We would love to go back one day for a cooking class as Barbara was so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. We were so pleased that we stopped here on our drive from Modena to Parma.

Tour experiences at Dairy Farm, Balsamic farm and winery all reasonably good however the logistics are poor at best. If you are going to take this tour know that transportation to and between the tour sites is completely on your own or you have to pay extra for them to arrange it. Also, one of the reasons we booked this was because it was listed as a 930 start time but 48 hours before we were informed that we must be at the first tour site by 830am. The tour sites are remote. Also we only found out the sports car part of the tour was cancelled because the winery had a new exhibit in its place and the tour organizers had no idea (they did provide a small discount to us for this). Again, the tours themselves get the job done but at this price point how transport can’t be provided I will never understand. I would recommend to look for better options.

Dear guest, I’m glad to read your review. All contributes are welcome but let me tell you that we didn’t obliged you to start earlier. We offered you to start earlier in order to make you see the making of the cheese. It was your choice starting at 8:30 or at regular time 9:30. Then, it is well explained that this kind of experience takes place in 3 in different locations: Cheese Factory, winery and balsamic farm and it’s written that transportation is not included. We assume that our guests understand that to visit three different places they need to be transported/drive. We discounted you 50€ on the final amount, we didn’t expect that at the winery there was a new exhibition and we feel very sorry for that. This is the reason why we have been glad to do our best to discount you a part of the experience. We supported you with the transfer and we worked to find one able to support you during the whole tour. So at the end, everything was written and clearly explained, we feel very sorry to read your review. We appreciate it and it teaches us a lot; it’s very helpful to improve our work, but at the same we think that it’s not completely honest of you because things worked a little bit different.

Lovely local balsamic vinegar manufacturer. Great tour, learned a lot. Adorable farm house and a great guide. We came from Modena and it wasn’t too far away. Totally worth it. And the snacks are off the hook delicious.

Abbiamo conosciuto l'Acetaia Malagoli Daniele durante la giornata delle acetaie aperte. Il posto è molto bello e la visita guidata all'acetaia c'è piaciuta molto. L'aceto è buonissimo. Abbiamo avuto anche modo di acquistare dei prodotti. Abbiamo visitato anche il negozio di Modena, recentemente aperto e abbiamo acquistato tanti regali di Natale. Sofia, con la sua simpatia e con le sue tante iniziative, è veramente il cuore di questa attività. Da non perdere! Da non perdere anche i cioccolatini all'aceto balsamico: super!

Luogo di pace immerso nel verde, accoglienza calorosa ma professionale ed aceto unico, il tutto condito da una lezione di cultura e tradizione.
È proprio vero, quando c’è passione e amore i risultati si vedono.

Amazing experience!!!
We had today a great journey with Sofia!
She explains us all about the aceito di Modena DOP and IGP!
She is very nice and take the time to explain everything.
We enjoyed every moment and are very great full.

If you are looking to do a tour of an Acetaia while you are in Modena look no further than Acetaia Malagoli. The place itself is so authentic to its roots, Sofia explains everything that needs to be known about Modenese traditions and the importance of Aceto Balsamico to the local culture.
Honestly, it was the best experience I have done in Modena.
