Zeker het bezoeken waard. Een indrukwekkend groot fort, alles mooi opgesteld. Wij hadden Willy Jacobs als gids, en dit is zeker een aanrader. Met gids is het een veel leukere ervaring. En Willy kon op al onze extra vragen antwoorden.👍👍 zelfs de honden zijn welkom.

A historical gem. Read so much, full of pictures from old stories books, finally I managed to to see for myself.
The fortress itself as an engineering achievement the canal included, the operation to seize the fortress is a story of its own. The totality of the museum display, the tours outside gives you a very authentic feeling of how a surprise para-glider infill attack can be launched and how the end-state can be achieved. As with all real stories, tragic loss of life on both sides. Witnessing the impact of the hollow charges one can only imagine how the Belgian defenders must have felt. You can read about it, bust must see for yourselves.

Eben-Emael was the first stop on our Maginot Line tour and an excellent introduction to what was to come and also the sheer size of these forts. Our Dutch guide Hugo was very personable and guided us expertly and set the scene for us. We weren't rushed and overall was a very pleasant experience.

Best eens de moeite om dit te bezoeken. Wij hebben het fort bezocht zonder gids. Overal staan bordjes met uitleg en je kan een film bekijken over wat er allemaal is gebeurd. Daarna hebben we de wandeling gedaan bovenop het fort. Wat zeker ook eens de moeite is om de grote omvang van het fort te bevatten.

De rondleiding met gids is zeer aan te bevelen. Dan krijg je toch meer achtergrond van het bouwwerk en zijn geschiedenis.

Notre guide pour groupe francophone est un mordu intarissable, une "mine "de renseignements.
On découvre un aspect de l'évolution des constructions militaires en 1939 dont Eben-Emael est un des plus grands forts de ce type en Europe
L'emplacement stratégique révèle la conception de cet ouvrage gigantesque.
La préparation minutieuse de l'attaque aéroportée allemande sur le fort est une première.
Beaucoup de marches d'escalier.
Température très fraiche à l'intérieur.
Il y a des toilettes. Tout est propre
Grand parking -une très belle région

De rondleiding werd gegeven door een gedreven ex-militair met kennis van zaken. Veel achtergrondinformatie gekregen. Veel trappen. Korting met Lerarenkaart.

Een gigantisch fort,dat vele hectare groot is. Voor iemand die van geschiedenis houdt en met name ww2 is dit een must see. De geschiedenis van dit fort iz zo nteressnt dat Ik aan de 2 uur durende rondleiding te kort heb. De gids Wilie is een bijzonder persoon. Die de geschiedenis goed kan overbrengen. Dit is zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken

Is het mogelijk om bij een gids aan te sluiten want we zijn maar met twee. Is het fort ook open in februari?

Excuses voor de late reactie, maar de vraag was ons ontgaan.
In februari kan het fort enkel bezocht worden mits voorafgaandelijke reservatie. Eine maart gaan we terug open volgens het normale ritme. Ik raad je aan om een 14 dagen voor de datum dat je het fort wil bezoeken een mail te sturen naar secretariat@fort-eben-emael.be. Dan kijkt onze coördinator of je kunt aansluiten bij een groep. Je vindt tevens alle informatie op onze website. Graag tot in het fort.

Hello. Every month there are 1 or 2 open days, where the fort is open the entire day. The underground barracks and the museum can then be visited without a guide. The following open day is July 21 and then August 24. The guided tour (English / German / French / Dutch) takes you to the 5 km long gallery system and an artillery bunker. Moreover, the fort can be visited every weekend with a guide at 1 pm. There are then guided tours in French, Dutch and briefly in English. The fort is managed by volunteers who do it completely free of charge.

From Brussels take the train to Liège and then to Visé. In Visé you can take a bus (company TEC) to the bus station of Bassenge (TEC company - busline 16). From there take the bus 101 to the small village of Eben-Emael.
The itinerary will take approx. 1 hour.
