Gedaan vanuit platanias haven. Tochtje om het eiland vd geiten in 1 uur. Ongeveer 200 die na ongeveer een jaar als ze zelf voedsel konden zoeken weer naar samaria teruggezet konden worden. Daar is het voedsel nl wat ze nodig hebben .
Nu worden ze op het eiland handmatig gevoerd. Je mag niet op eiland komen. Er woont 1 beheerder die de geiten voert.

This site seems to be where reviews are left for Agia Marina (Don't understand why it is titled "Hall" but hey ho, it is what it is)
Agia Marina is typical of coastal resorts on the island, the main hotels, shops, bars and restaurants etc are situated on the coast road, the resort spreads a long way until you reach and merge with the next resort, which is Platinas. This road is very busy with traffic so be very careful, especially with young children. The beach area which overlooks the island, where apparently you can only visit once a year, is very popular and is sardine packed with tourists, sunbeds and parasols.
The hotels off the main road are in the hilly area of the resort, so check the maps for location before you book, otherwise you will have a climb up each time you go back to your hotel, not good if you have any walking difficulties, or are perhaps pushing a buggy or wheelchair.
Access to other places is quite good as there is a fairly regular local bus service running from Chania along the coast.
Worth a visit.

En sevärdhet som bara kan beskådas på avstånd eftersom det råder besöksförbud i allmänhet . En dag per år kan vissa utvalda personer ta sig en titt på de berömda fåren, om jag är korrekt underrättad. Vi ha bott på flertalet hotell med en fantastisk utsikt mot ön. Bilderna har blivit många under åren. Däremot kan jag inte hålla med om kvalitén på stranden, som många ger beröm. Från Platanias och Agia Marina och nästan ända fram till Gorgona Beach, finns det inslag av klappersten, som försvårar förutsättningarna att ta sig ut i Medelhavets blåa vatten. Badskor är nästan ett måste för att undvika halkolyckor.

Inte riktigt ett ställe man åker till för att göra saker. Men man kan inte undgå att se stället från hela stranden på agia marina och det gör vyn ut mot havet mer levande om ingetannat.

Fascinating looking island that dominates the ocean view from Agia Marina. Uninhabited, apart from wild goats, the open mouth at one end looks like something out of a James Bond film. Can only be visited on one day of the year.

It's a quite nice view from Agia Marina, you can see two out of three sides of this mystical, off limits place. During summer there are boat trips to this Island.
