Really nice, I fell in love with this place, the visit to the castle was exhaustive from the point of view of the explanations received from the Guide, the tour also included the village. Truly a place that takes you back to the past. Don't miss it!

The village of Grazzano is a creation of the early twentieth century built on the initiative of Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone, Owner of the castle, who wanted to recreate a neo-medieval environment rich in craft shops but also the services necessary at the time of construction. The village has always had a great tourist attraction for the presence of many bars and shops and I return willingly although not with the sense of wonder when I first saw it at a young age.

I visited this unusual monument last June, intrigued by my father’s descriptions of it, who was very impressed fifty years ago.
So my expectations traveled high on the wave of fatherly tales. Obviously, I knew that Grazzano Visconti is not an original medieval village, but rather a romantic reinterpretation of it, made by a Lombard nobleman.
The style of this village is halfway between the English neo-Gothic style and those excesses of Gothic trash seen in some “horror” theme parks (the ghost gallery to be clear.
the village consists of one or two-storey houses, intersecting roads; trees and hedges complete the scenery.
The entrance to the village is quite anonymous so I didn't even photograph it. Taking my first steps, I immediately understood that the half century from my childhood stories had passed: you could see worn stucco, some missing tiles, uncultivated hedges. Every artifact made it clear that Grazzano required urgent maintenance. What left me negatively affected? The modern conveniences of the residents (a sacrosanct right), have not been sufficiently concealed; I speak of: television cables, gutters, antennas, niches that house boilers or electrical panels and holes to let out chimneys. In short, these interventions were made in the worst way to stand out on the aesthetics of the village!
The countless shops in this fairytale village have done the rest: loud music that does not match the atmosphere of the place, aperitif ice cream signs that have little medieval about them and so on.
I was quite happy with what I saw, although my expectations aimed a little higher. A medieval monument must be preserved as faithfully as possible to the original style, as well as being continuously maintained.

Beautiful small village, rebuilt largely but very carefully. Transports you to another time, a bit magical

For a long time I dreamed of being able to find the right fit of the commitments of the whole family to finally be able to visit the historic village of Grazzano Visconti and so as soon as I was presented with an opportunity today I did not miss it.
That said, one last tour through the reviews and on the site, verified that the visit was feasible and off we go: about an hour of travel and we will be there!
I have already seen that there are two separate parking areas and that they are both unattended and paid, it is fine also because the rate of 5 Euro is adequate considering that we intend to visit the village, the visit of the Park if possible and then we would like to visit the local museums and finally stop for lunch.
We will not visit the Castle because it is not accessible to me who only move in a wheelchair.
The parking lot, without a signal for spaces reserved for fragile categories, is large, tree-lined and with a gravel bottom that forces me to be towed in reverse but it is still fine: the parking may not be the maximum accessibility but it is not the visit itself.
We cross the bridge in galvanized steel grid and, from a pedestrian arch, we access the Historic Village.
In reality we only try to access it, but we realize that all the roads inside this Attraction are made or covered with gravel which unfortunately makes it impractical for a wheelchair and therefore for me: my visit to the Historic Village of Grazzano Visconti ends in practice even before starting.
Yet on the Borgo’s site is displayed the ideogram that indicates places accessible to a disabled person; yet on the same site it is also clearly stated that the Borgo is accessible to disabled people.
I fully realize that at the time when the Historic Village was conceived and built, accessibility was not even taken into account and I confirm that I did not find ditches, walkways or rock walls to overcome in order to access the village; it does not seem to me that the site can have gradients that cannot be overcome with a wheelchair.
But accessibility means first of all that I will be able to walk a certain “accessible” path more or less independently; here I would have needed a tracked vehicle or a quad bike, my wheelchair could not help me.
So, obviously disappointed and frustrated at the “mockery” of which I was the victim, I went with my family to visit other and elsewhere.
This is not my complaint but at the same time it is a warning to all disabled people who want to visit the Historic Village of Grazzano Visconti and who need to know what they will find, and it is an exhortation to the managers of that Historic Village to want to be more precise in the presentation on the web, to put the ideogram of accessibility only when the places will really be accessible.
Icing on the cake: my stay in Grazzano Visconti lasted only 13 minutes, but the inflexible parking payment system demanded and obviously got the full payment of the rate.

I was curious to see this village and returning from vacation I stopped, it seems to enter another era... what about fantastic!!! for those who love medieval villages is the right place. Lots of shops to shop, some restaurants and I saw that there are several initiatives that lasted the year. Recommendation for those passing by to waste a couple of hours visiting this beautiful country

I live in Lombardy for a stone's throw and it takes me less than an hour to reach this Emilian village where I go every now and then for "the classic out-of-town trip". Imagine an outlet with shops adapted to the medieval context, here there is no history, you do not breathe the charm of bygone times, but simply find an Attraction, I would say successful. Here you can buy crossbows, bows, arrows, knives, but also pots, clothes or eat the delicious cold cuts of Piacenza. Grazzano Visconti is not bad, you can go aware that fiction exceeds all imagination.
