We had a pleasant visit to this well-kept castle with nice settings, we visited it with the audio guide which is very detailed. On the same day was also open the tulip field behind where we could not only appreciate them but also buy some.

During a trip to Bergamo we visited the Malpaga Castle, what about beautiful!
C welcomed the Guide Mariarosa, a very kind and professional girl, who very clearly told c the story of the castle...
The guided tour was very nice, interesting and caught our attention until the end.
The majestic castle is a real fortress, protected by a wide moat, once the residence of Colleoni.
With a single tower overlooking the agricultural fields near the Serio River.
Many activities carried out within it, we happened to
garden/labyrinth of sunflowers...
Too bad they were almost finished, what a show of colors it had to be!!!
The cost is € 17 per person with guided tour, and € 15 with audio guide.
Highly Recommendation to visit it!!!

Small but well maintained castle, you can choose a guided tour or with audio guide, which I must say is the best ever heard, engaging, exhaustive and with a touch of imagination not bad.
Too bad we can not climb the tower .. we hope they can invest in this not indifferent plus.

Trip out of town on a beautiful sunny day. Our choice fell on Malpaga castle, the home of the powerful Bergamo leader Bartolomeo Colleoni. On 29 April 1456 Colleoni purchased a fourteenth-century fortress from the Serenissima Republic of Venice at the price of 100 gold ducats, which he carefully transformed to make it a princely residence worthy of a leader of his prestige. You can choose a guided tour or freely access the structure. It is preferable to be equipped with earphones as the access code for the audio guide is provided at the ticket office to independently follow the route accompanied by the voice of Medea, Bartolomeo's favorite daughter, who died at an early age at just 15 years old. In the courtyard the frescoes, described in detail by the audio guide, recall some of the battles fought by Colleoni while in the portico you can observe, in addition to other battle scenes, a splendid Crucifixion with saints, a Christ Pantocrator surrounded by the four evangelists, musician angels and an Annunciation . It was precisely under this portico that Ambrogio and Francesco Vismara, two assassins in the pay of the Duke of Milan Galeazzo Maria Sforza, accused of having made an attempt on Colleoni's life, were tortured, tried and executed. We were fascinated by two rooms, one on the ground floor and one on the upper floor. On the walls of the Banquet Hall, re-frescoed in 1530 commissioned by Colleoni's nephews, the scenes of an episode that actually happened in the castle of Malpaga in 1474 when the leader was 79 years old are represented. Colleoni hosted the King of Denmark Christian I at his residence on his way to Rome for the Jubilee year accompanied by his retinue and princes. And here is the arrival of the king greeted by Colleoni, the knightly tournament organized in his honour, the hunting trip in the surroundings of the castle then rich in woods and game, the banquet, testimony to the generosity and munificence of the leader but also significant and well a glimpse of fifteenth-century life has been preserved. King Christian is depicted at the head of the table, Bartolomeo from behind, to the left of the king is the seneschal Alberto Quarenghi, some of Colleoni's daughters, musicians, servants with serving dishes as they enter the hall. On the upper floor we highlight the reception room which, although not in a perfect state of conservation, shows interesting frescoes on the walls. On the south side we observe a hunting scene with animals, ladies, knights, surrounded by woods and, in the background, castles and fortified towns. To the east, Venice is depicted in the guise of the Virgin with a crown held by angels on her head, demonstrating that power comes from God and, on the sides, female figures also crowned who represent Mercy and Justice, essential virtues for good government. On the opposite wall you can see a lady receiving a duck from a page as a gift, according to some scholars Bertrada of Laon, mother of Charlemagne. The clothing certainly refers to the French area in the period in which the leader had contacts with the Duke of Burgundy. Also worthy of mention is the Colleoni room where the leader died in 1475. In the aedicule located on the back wall you can observe the fresco of the Madonna and Child, Saint Bartholomew and Saint Louis of Toulouse dating back to the fifteenth century and belonging to the Bembo circle . A look at the painted wooden tablets on the ceiling located in the following rooms which depict flowers, cherubs, animals, dragons, coats of arms, esoteric representations which become the protagonists of the legends told to the children who lived in the manor. A truly evocative castle that we hope to visit again perhaps during the many themed guided tours organized in the structure.

Very beautiful castle, residence of Bartolomeo Colleoni.
Worth seeing are the ground floor with the courtyard and the first floor.
The frescoes and two decorated beam ceilings are truly appreciable.
I recommend checking the opening hours on the Castle website.
There is an entrance fee and 12.00 euros per person is not a lot, but we were very satisfied with the visit (there is a reduction for children).
I recommend visiting the castle with the audio guide; bring the earphones for your mobile phone and at the entrance you can download the app for the visit. If you do not have earphones, you will be given headphones.
The voice that leads you through the various spaces of the Castle personifies Medea, Colleoni's daughter who died at 14 years old. Who knows, maybe his ghost is also wandering around the rooms of the castle!

Beautiful 15th century castle just a short distance from Milan. Residence of Colleoni, and a point of reference for the history of the period. It can be visited through an App that tells the history of the places and explains the frescoes, which are in good condition. Parking available in the immediate vicinity.

Sometimes we have wonderful places nearby and we go who knows where and don't visit the one that's nearby! Malpaga Castle booked online with guided tour. We are from Bergamo and we knew something about the castle and the leader Colleoni but with this visit we explored the history and admired the castle. There were a lot of people, Italian and foreign tourists but the groups were well organised. Excellent.
There was also tulip picking.
The only suggestion is to improve the bar location given the possibility of outdoor space.

The cute castle, the guide Simone, good and engaging. It's a shame that 2 friends had to give up their entry due to a bereavement and despite notifying Eventbrite first and requesting not a refund, but at least a voucher for a subsequent entry, I was denied.

Vicino al castello no, a pochi chilometri sì. Per la prenotazione conviene contattare la segreterai del castello, i contatti sono recuperabili via internet.
