It is the beach of restaurants and bars so many people even if in September it is quieter. Little room when the sea rises and the embankment is short to walk.
Personally, without more because lined with buildings without much interest and very difficult to park. However, ideal if you want to be at the foot of the beach.
Go instead to the cornice on the heights of St Gilles: the view is more beautiful and the beach nicer. And try one of the bars in the morning to have your coffee facing the sea.

Used to places since childhood, I am very disappointed this year to see that a very large part of the beach is reserved for surf lessons all day! This is quite unacceptable considering that it is the only place where there is no bayin and therefore we can safely monitor our children.
When there is high tide it is already difficult to find a place, but then in low tide it is absurd to crowd the holidaymakers!

Since this year swimming is forbidden on the beach access 29 rue de kerlo, entirely reserved for surfers.

Very pretty beach with a beautiful decor, you feel good there if you are a little thirsty or hungry, there are many restaurants and services nearby. Surfing and sand yachting clubs are also present if you are sporty and adventurous.

Ce long remblai piétonnier , bordé d'un coté par la grande et belle plage de sable fin ( assez étroite a marée haute ) et de l'autre par de nombreux et hauts immeubles , sans charme , des années 70 a maintenant .
Les bars , restaurants se succèdent tout le long du remblai et dominent la plage

cette plage est séparée du continent par un fleuve cotier le Jaunay, toute la partie sud, 3kms, est pratiquement inaccessible en raison de l’absence de ponts, parkings et traversée de cordon dunaire. Pour la partie « en ville » 1km, le front de mer est privatisé et il est difficile d’accéder à la plage, les parkings sont occupés par les résidents et il n’y a que très très peu de places, quant aux parkings en ville c’est mission impossible d’autant plus que toute une partie est occupée par une fête foraine. A fuir.

Huge and incredibly popular beach. Almost impossible to park in high season, so we had to park a 10 minute walk away. Lovely broad promenade to walk along with lots of good places to eat and drink. Beach is very long and broad at low tide. In August people were swimming in the sea even up to sunset, after 9pm!

La plage du Boisvinet est très proche de la gare mais assez restreinte.
pour la grande plage comptez un peu plus de temps, 1/2 heure, mais vous serez en vacances...

Bonjour, Je pars au mois de juillet au camping Le Jaunay à Givrand. Nous n'aurons que des vélos. J'imagine que la grande plage n'est pas très loin !!! Merci à vous de me donner des idées ou des conseils pour améliorer mes vacances. Solange B.

que des vélos, bonne pioche.le litoral de st gilles permet aux vèlos de circuler en toute sécurité. du camping du jaunay à la plage, même à pieds c'est très facile.profitez donc de vos vélos, vous trouverez des panneaux et informations pour vous indiquer des circuits divers, côtiers où dans les marais. si vos vélos ne sont pas électriques, ce n'est pas grave, nous ne sommes pas au Tourmalet en Vendée.

Bonjour je viens de voir beaucoup d'avis divergents. La plage et la mer qui est soit disant en pente douce sont elles vraiment adaptée pour les jeunes enfants ? Savez-vous si les restaurants acceptent facilement les chèques vacances et pou finir y a t'il des animations le soir ?
