Church dedicated to Saint George, patron saint, in the heart of the old town. There are reliefs of a dragon and St. George on the pediment of the neoclassical facade. The current building was built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and the Greek cross-shaped inner sanctuary, even in its solemnity, has a Baroque splendor. The stained glass of my mother's Assumption on the wall was impressive.

The current church, dedicated to Saint George, patron saint of the city, saw its construction completed in 1825. Facade in neoclassical style has on the tympanum a bas-relief depicting the saint with the dragon.

In Italy and Puglia in particular, there are thousands of churches. Some are worth the visit, others a little less... This is the case with this one. Built at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century, it is worth a stop of around 15 minutes at most....

In the center of Locorotondo, the mother church dedicated to San Giorgio Martire. Nothing exceptional, but interesting, with a nice facade. Inside, during the Christmas period, a beautiful nativity scene

…I visited this beautiful Church dedicated to San Giorgio Martire!!…in Locorotondo!!…beautiful village in Puglia!!…the facade is very beautiful and important!!…with two different floors!!…and with semi-columns!! …you can see the entrance door and above it a large window!!…with the two semi-columns on each side!!…the interior has a single nave!!…with side chapels!!…with a beautiful presbytery which remains raised a few steps!!...important works are preserved!!...such as the painting of San Giorgio and the altarpiece depicting the Madonna of the Rosary!!...the beautiful crucifix!!...and other wooden busts depicting sacred characters!!...definitely worth seeing also this beautiful Church of San Giorgio Martire in Locorotondo!!…

Chiesa Madre San Giorgio dates back to 18c and serves as the main Locorotondo Church. It's set on a small square within the old town tiny alleys.
Likewise many towns in Italy a modest and simple Baroque facade hides terrific interiors with great marble art, two side altars and beautiful dome.

Definitely more impressive on the inside than the outside. A large church with a main altar, and two large side altars. Several places have glass panels set in the floor where you can see the more ancient walls and foundations on which this church has been built. Beautiful ceilings & artwork.

Beautiful understated interior and ceiling, a relief from the OTT baroque churches we'd recently visited.shame to see the water damage to the corner of the roof.

Bon une église de plus, mais celle-ci attire à la visite avec sa belle façade, richement décorée et ornée un choeur magnifique, des couleurs resplendissantes et une lumière exceptionnelle! l'autel est remarquable ainsi que le plafond, donc levez la tête.
