A thought provoking atmosphere, ideal to make a visit after visiting the museums, to put the events into context. 1700 brave souls lie here in final rest as the result of a mad mans quest for world domination. The ages and words in memory are sobering. Thank them for the future they gave you.

This cemetery holds the remains of many brave men of many nations not just British but Poles and Dutch, young men and old Fathers, brothers and sons

This place is on the outskirts of Oosterbeek and we walked there after the visit in the Airborne Museum, to complete our "Battle of Arnhem" experience. It was very nice walk through the quiet village, however it is almost a mile walk - you shouldn't believe in the information on the signs, at the side of the main road.
Well-kept, long rows of graves, with the names of soldiers, ranks and the names of the units in which they served - almost 2,000 graves of Allied soldiers (except for Americans who buried their fallen elsewhere) killed during Operation Market Garden.
Great majority of buried are paratroopers, but there are also some graves of soldiers from units that tried to reach the bridge that was too far ...

In gedachtenis van de vele soldaten die hun leven hebben gegeven voor onze vrijheid. Netjes en goed onderhouden locatie. officieren en soldaten gebroedelijk naast elkaar.

A very respectful cemetery for some of the fallen Allies under ww2.
I remember seeing it being 12-14 years old and now took my 13 year old son.
It is a place of quiet and remembering with all the tombs. But very rewarding.

The Common Wealth War Graves Commision have always done a great job. Here they lay with such great dignity. So many interesting stories to be told. at least one VC here.

Indrukwekkend!! Je wordt er helemaal stil van als je al die graven ziet; met name als je kijkt hoe jong de meesten geweest zijn. De huidige oorlog in de Oekraine komt hierdoor voor mij ook in een ander perspectief.

I find any war cemetery a moving experience but this one for some reason really got to me
I think it’s the beautiful setting and the knowledge of how futile and harrowing this particular battle must have been - out numbered and with dwindling supplies

I don't see any reason why not - several graves had small bouquets or posies on them.
