We heard about Mac from a close friend who toured with him for two full days with their two teenage boys. We couldn’t have been gladder they insisted we engage him as well. We met Mac almost straight from the airport after a 14 hour flight, and he was so engaging, efficient, and fun that we forgot how tired we were and enjoyed every moment. Not only did he create a customized tour based on our feedback, but he gave us great tips for the rest of our stay in Tokyo, as well as for our other journeys around Japan. We also benefitted from booking him our first day in country because he helped us learn the subway system and other logistical/cultural tools that really helped us get comfortable as first time visitors to Japan. Overall, we were so glad we listened to our friends and booked Mac. Our only regret was not booking another day or night venture before we left Tokyo. We hope to come back someday, and we hope to see him when we do.

We went to Tokyo for our second visit in June 2023, and we knew that the only thing we absolutely had to do was call Mac and schedule some time together once again.
This gem of a human is a master at what he does. 5 years later, it was an awesome reunion, and we were right back to our shenanigans. His love of all-things-Japan pours out of his soul, and that passion is exciting and irresistable. His fun and disarming personality has allowed him to make amazing connections over his many years in Japan allowing for the most unique and memorable experiences that we could not have possibly discovered on our own. Additionally, he is incredibly conscientious about food allergens. Japan is not notorious for being particularly celiac-friendly, and Mac did the deep dive to find us the most delicious food. Period. AND the fact it was gluten-free was the icing on the cake. If all you need is the Greatest Hits, then just GTS (Google That Sh..tuff). But if you want the limited-edition masterpiece that’s carried in your soul the rest of your life, then call Mac.
Thank you, friend! It was so great seeing you again. Let us know when you are in the States!

Our tour with Mac was amazing, we would HIGHLY recommend booking with Maction Planet for your trip to Tokyo. We gave Mac a list of everything we like/dislike and what we were interested in seeing and doing, and Mac crafted the perfect day for us. Mac is extremely knowledgeable about everything Japan - from the history, to the food & drinks, culture, sites, etc. - and his approach to the tour guide experience is seriously one of a kind. It was also the perfect balance of both major sites and the incredible, more “off-the-beaten path” places that we would never have found on our own or in our guide books/online. We wish we had booked Mac for more of our days in Tokyo!

My family and I traveled to Japan last month. We are all frequent travelers and have toured with many different guides all over the world. At the end of our eight days with Mac in Tokyo, we can all say with absolute certainty that Mac is the best guide we have ever had! He is remarkably dedicated to crafting the best personalized itinerary possible, and is passionate about sharing his love for the beautiful city that is Tokyo. Mac is intelligent, knowledgeable, easy-going, and hilarious! Perhaps most importantly, he is a very kind and genuine person. Mac made our trip to Japan, and we are forever grateful!

My husband and I had the pleasure of spending two days with Mac.
He is without doubt, the best private guide that we have ever used. My only mistake, was not booking additional time with him.
He somehow just "knew" everything that I wanted to see. It was not a cookie-cutter script of places to take us. He understood that I wanted to get off the beaten path - and he Delivered!!!
I can't say enough good things about him. He was personable, friendly and knowledgeable.
Without doubt, the best part of our trip was spent with Mac!!

We had an AMAZING time with Mac on a walking craft beer tour in Tokyo! We started the night off with the best bowl of ramen we'd ever eaten, then proceeded to head to three bars where we sampled ~20 beers all brewed in Japan. Mac catered the styles of beer to our tastes and told us about the history of the industry in Japan as well as some of the more prominent craft brewers.
Throughout the night we were entertained with stories of travel across Japan and several other countries. We felt immediately at home with him and it was wonderful to hear why he chose to live in Tokyo after all his globetrotting adventures.
If you want a flexible, knowledegable, and extremely fun tour guide for any activities (large or small) while in Japan, we cannot recommend him any higher.

Absolutely perfect in every way! Mac was super responsive and helpful from the beginning of the planning process. I visited Japan for 11 days and my only regret was not having Mac for more than one day. The entire basis of my trip was my 24 year old's graduation from a masters program trip. Mac hit a homerun for her - totally focusing on her while keeping it fun for my husband and I. I loved how he spoke with her and really made it feel special for her. We adored him! I would be lying if I said I didn't tear up waving good bye to him. He knows the city inside and out and had us at places I would have never navigated alone and every minute with him was delightful. I love his candor and sense of humor and you will feel like you spent the day with an old friend. He did a great job of reading between the lines on what I THOUGHT I wanted for the day and delivering a day full of neat surprises.

I am SO SO SO SO happy that my husband and I got to spend a day with Mac during our honeymoon in Tokyo. After months (more like a year) of planning a wedding, and then months of planning our honeymoon, we just wanted to have a day where we didn't have to think - that's where Mac came in. I emailed him with three things: baseball, sake, and whiskey. And boy did he deliver! Mac took the three things that we wanted and exceeded all of our expectations. He brought us to tiny corners of Tokyo that we never would have seen ourselves, and we got to interact with local business owners, which was an incredible way to experience Tokyo. I will say, it wasn't just those three things. Mac also brought us to some amazing gardens and temples in an area of Tokyo that we never would have found. I was so happy to be able to hand the reigns over (even though as a control freak it wasn't easy at first), and Mac was the perfect one to take us on a fantastic trip!

We had a fantastic day with Mac. From the start of our planning right through to meeting Mac at our hotel the communication was easy and prompt. We were a small group of four with a mix of people who were in Japan for their first time and those that had been several times on business. Mac tailored our day to make it fantastic for everyone. It was fun to tour around the city as a local using the Metro which was very time efficient. Mac has a wonderful knowledge of every little nook and cranny in the Tokyo and it's clear that he fell in love with Tokyo/Japan and wants to share it with you. If you want a fantastic day off the beaten track in Tokyo and to get an amazing overview of Tokyo, it's history and culture without being herded in a big tour group, Maction Planet is a fantastic option.

Mac organised a 4 hour tour for us on a Saturday evening around some of the iconic night sights of the Shinjuku and Shibuya districts. It was a fantastic tour and provided us with lots of facts and snippets along the way. Mac does not stop with interesting facts the whole way round but also can seemingly adjust the flow to interest of the guests at any point l. Over the course of the evening he made some impromptu adjustments to our plans to reflect where our questions and interests were coming from. This personalisation was fantastic and overal it really helped to give us a true sense of the area in the way that we could not do ourselves in the short time we had including some highlights of local food and whisky tastings.
Mac has a huge network of knowledge and people in the area having lived here for so long since leaving the UK and when we come back to Japan I will not hesitate to ask him to help us plan more in depth trips after this great taster.
As first time visitors looking to cram a lot into our short trip we found this evening tour to be a great addition to the other plans we had.

They will customise things for you so costs vary. Email them to find out more. Trust me, they are by far and away the best tour operator in Tokyo.

I did tip him about 15% of the total cost of the trip and he said that they don’t tip there but he graciously accepted it. He’s worth it!!!!
