The museum forms an exciting historical building environment with the artist's home which was built from 1901-1902, in the center and new exhibition building.
Johannes Larsen is the most prominent member of the group of Fynbo painters. The "Fynbos" largely had their starting point in Kerteminde.
The painting couples Alhed and Johannes Larsen, Anna and Fritz Syberg and periodically also Christine and Sigurd Swane lived here. Together, they formed an artists' colony that, like a magnet, drew many other visual artists and writers to the city. And the magnetism still works, as anyone can convince themselves of by a visit to the museum, which draws the lines of the area's artistic life right up to the present day.
We had a great day on Saturday 3rd August 2024. The weather was perfect. A beautiful place with lots and lots of fantastic paintings by Johannes Larsen, Alhed Larsen and many others.
A very tranquil place in beautiful sorroundings. We will be visiting again sometime next year.

The museum is clear and with a beautiful location.
Johannes Larsens private residence is an experience in itself. Very beautiful and sensual.
The museum cafe is also very good. If the weather is good, you can go out. Either in the beautiful garden, or with sea views.

We were given a really good and informative tour by people from the Johannes Larsen museum. We were given a view of the matter in relation to the use of the complementary colours. The place is authentic, has an exciting atmosphere and the staff are smiling and friendly.

Simpelthen så hyggeligt et sted. Meget særligt at malerierne hænger rundt i deres hjem. Samlingen er også meget fin og haven er så skøn med specielle træer og fugle.

Kunstnerparret Alhed og Johannes Larsen tidligere hjem er en fornøjelse at besøge. Det ligger smukt med udsigt over Kertemindebugten.
De har mere at byde på, mere end jeg lige havde forestillet mig.
Dejlig mad i caféen.

Det er altid berigende at besøge Johannes Larsenmuseet i Kerteminde. Denne gang fandt jeg ud af, at Christine Swane var lillesøster til Johannes og der var en del af hendes malerier udstillet, samt en ny udstilling om fugle

Vi var 4 par, der for fleres vedkommende var på genbesøg.

The museum is situated on a hill in the town of Kerteminde. The location is really nice and there is a fine view of the Great Belt from the grounds.
The museum building is the actual former home of the painter Johannes Larsen, and collections are both extensive and impressive. During our visit, a special exhibition with works by his wife, Alhed Larsen, was on show to commomerate her 150th birthday.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff made our visit a great one. We even had the opportunity to have a guided tour lead by one of Johannes Larsen’s grandchildren, and this was excellent.

A must see. Beautiful garden, a comprehensive selection of Johannes Larsen artwork, beautifully conserved studio. A very good cafe, don't miss a visit there!
