First visit, and I was pleasantly surprised. A Gem!
Excellent value. Welcoming, attentive (Volunteer) staff. Looked like a full House too.
Deserves continued support.

Delightful Picture Palace…. It is exactly that.. run by volunteers on the night, friendly, welcoming and helpful. A well planned set up with good quality screen, projection and sound. The screenings change from very busy to very quiet…. We enjoyed our visit and will return. Great value.

I have only been to 2 films so far as I was under the impression it was not an actual Cinema....more like a home movie screen and a few stackable chairs, and that it only showed films that were either a bit 'Noir' or 'eyebrow'. How wrong was I ?! It is a proper little cinema, with tiered seating, or on the level. A kiosk for popcorn and ice cream and SO much cheaper than going to Cambridge or Letchworth. The films I have seen so far have been up to the minute and a new brochure comes out every month for the next ones. Very impressive! One draw back is the hard seats ( folding Cinema seats). By the end of the film, the sore bottom does tend to detract from the picture a bit but that only reminded me of the old Royston Cinema..... Nostalgia! And it is most definitely NOT a 'flea pit', as was the old Priory.
The staff are nice and as a lot of it is done voluntarily, I applaud them. So people should use it. It is one of very few good thing happening in Royston at the moment.

It's an admiral use of the space but very much has the feel of sitting on school chairs watching a presentation at school on the old-style overhead projector. Seats were quite close and not much room. Worth going once for the experience but can't beat The Recliner at the Grafton for all round comfort and choice.

I confess I have only sat in the upstairs section- I think downstairs might be a tad too close for comfort for spectacle wearers but is tiered. Staff are all volunteers, cheerful,and friendly. Recently a good choice of films: Jojo rabbit; 1917; Le Mans 66; Cats. A selection of snacks and ice cream is available. Certainly good value for money. Book in advance online. Nice to have a small local facility after the demise of the previous venue.

Such a shame that the selection of films are selected by those that run the cinema and are ones thay they want to see not the general public but the cinema itself is a lovely building.

Just lovely and so are the volunteers - thank you.
Please note that it has not been demolished - the April 2018 comment from Bob referred to the previous cinema next to the small summer swimming pool (both now gone). This Picture Palace cinema is contained within the Royston town Hall.

We have been twice & the films were excellent but unfortunately the seating on both occasions was extremely uncomfortable with no room for legs, we both suffered from cramp due to the conditions.

I love coming here it's 2 minutes from my house it's comfortable and cosy just hope it keeps going you don't have the exorbitant prices for snacks the Vu and Warners charge.Great place to see a good film in confort
