Crossed Cape Farewell or our way to Nanortalik in Cruise ship. It's the southernmost point of the Greenland island that juts out in the cold North Atlantic Ocean. Just about 60 miles away is Nanortalik. The view is beautiful during the journey. There are imposing rocks on land, water with blue and green hue in the ocean and icebergs sprinkled on the way.

I wasn't sure where to post this as there's not much on Trip Advisor for Nanortalik. We were visiting with a cruise ship for a good 6 hours. There's not much to do on this stop so thought to go on a hike without a guide to the big mountain behind the town. Uh, yeah, not a good idea. There's no trails. The visitor center will give you a barely readable map and say 'it's an island, you can't get lost!' So glad she had faith in me, I would have gotten lost, haha.
Luckily, I met up with a group who was hiking on a cruise excursion with a guide and followed them up the mountain. The views were amazing and was about a 1-2 hour hike, not for the pansy hiker. It was pretty tough. I wouldn't have known where to go without the guide - so thankful! The hike was a mix of quartz boulders and soft, mushy foliage. Kind of weird to step on, but served as a sort of padding. Atop the mountain was a mound of rocks, everyone who goes up there donates to the pile, kind of cool.
I paid the guide what I had on me as I didn't expect to need anyone, but was so glad he was there! If I were to visit again, I would definitely get a readable map or guide as I didn't even know what the mountain was called. Again, not much to do, but great views of the town, fjord and lake if you can get up the mountain.

Coming and going to port you pass one beautiful scenic view after another. Clear skies with no rain makes for the perfect passage. Unspoiled terrain as far as the eye can see. Much probably and recently was recently under ice.

We were on a Cruise Ship and got some really beautiful views of the area. While we may not have been on Cape Farewell we passed right by it on our Cruise Ship. Absolutely splendid beauty.

This is really lovely scenic area and worth walking around the town of Nanortalik and have a look even from distance. We had a really lovely day when our cruise ship stopped here.

You cannot see cape Farewell from Nanortalik, but most cruise ships will pass close by, before or after visiting Nanortalik. The other two reviews are posted in the wrong place. One is for Qaqortoq, a larger town 40 miles north west, and the other is for Cape Farewell, New Zealand. You'd need super vision to see the Tasman sea from Greenland!

how long does it ake and will we be able to fit it in we dock at 7..00am and leave at 2.00 pm, this is for the ice cap tour
