Although we were unable to go inside this is a fascinating church, steeped in history. With local children making their own entertainment and practicing English on us in the huge square in front of the church it felt like we'd been transported back in time!

Lovely old church, built on the site of an ancient Roman temple (which was dedicated to Jupiter). It's not always open though.

This church has quite a lot of history attached to it, especially considering the town is now quite small and isolated.
It is situated on the highest point of the town but in hemmed in a bit by other buildings - although there is an open courtyard at the front (which has a nice ice cream shop).
Inside it is clearly old with a number of statues etc with a nice curved, painted ceiling and clearly well looked after. Generally a beautiful inside. Unfortunately we could not access the tower.
The town seemed off the main tourist trail so it was very peaceful and quiet there. I would recommend it if you churches and/or history.

La chiesa di San Servolo, conosciuta come il Duomo di Buie, ricorda con la sua imponenza il ruolo che questa cittadina ha esercitato nel corso dei secoli, a cominciare dall'epoca romana. Costruita in cima alla collina dapprima sulle rovine e sulle fondamenta di un antico tempio romano, nel Settecento la chiesa fu ricostruita con il materiale di una chiesa medievale in stile gotico veneziano. Oggi si presenta con una navata unica, soffitto a volta e aspetto barocco. Nell'abside è collocato un bassorilievo ligneo di scuola gardenese che rappresenta la . Staccato dal Duomo svetta un bellissimo campanile che ricorda nella struttura quello di Aquileia.

Village mal entretenu, le point de vue annoncé est inintéressant puisqu’il est sur une zone industrielle, passez votre chemin !

The church is located in the northern part of the old town centre and can be found easily. There is a large square in front of the church. The location is not well maintained which gives it a specific, authentic atmosphere.
On the outside the church and bell tower look quite neglected and rough. Unfortunately we couldn't go into the church so we looked through the window in the portal. The interior of the baroque style church was really impressive. Behind the church one can enjoy an excellent panorama.
Well worth the uphill walk but with some additional effort the whole location could be made more attractive and interesting without making it it less authentic.

Passeios por cidades pequeninas e muito antigas, lugarejos encantadores e que sempre nos surpreendem com verdadeiras jóias arquitetônicas que revelam um passado! Experiência muito boa conhecer locais como este!
