“Beautiful and educational”

当你在波多黎各哈尤亚上的中心是一个很棒的地方去看Tainos的故事。很好的教育。非常干净的群山中间。

Small nice museum

Small museum with history about Taino indians in Puerto Rico, interesting artifacts to see. In adition, there is a house/museum right behind the parking lot. I didn't got a chance to go in as it was closed when we finished looking at artifacts in the Cemi museum.

If you have to travel from far away; It might not be worth for you to come and see ONLY this museum. But the good thing is that, if you plan your trip, you have several spots to stop on your way here and after the museum. Doña Juana waterfall, coffee haciendas, a river which I don't know the name but is where La Piesdra escrita is located and you can dive in and take a break, etc.

The Cemi Museum (Museo El Cemi, in Spanish) in Jayuya is a visitor center for the area and a showcase of Taino artifacts. Archaeological digs and large rocks with shapes carved into them (petroglyphs) prove that pre-Columbian cultures lived in this area. The leaders of Jayuya wanted to preserve and educate about the Taino culture, so they opened this odd-shaped museum in 1989.

El Museo Cemi en Jayuya es un centro de visitantes para el área y una exhibición de artefactos Taínos. Las excavaciones arqueológicas y las grandes rocas con formas talladas en ellas (petroglifos) demuestran que las culturas precolombinas vivían en esta área. Los líderes de Jayuya querían preservar y educar sobre la cultura taína, por lo que abrieron este museo de forma extraña en 1989.

Su estructura es muy hermosa, es de un Cemi (Dios taino). Guarada muchos artefactos tainos. Recomendado.

El Cemí is a small museum in the heart of Jayuya. It's only a dollar to go in and it have a really nice collection of the taíno indians artefacts on display, The Taíno indians were the Native residents before Christopher Columbus discovered the Island. They are extinct because the Spanish colonizaton killed them.
The Cemí museum holds an original lapidary stone with Indian simbols into it and the rests of an Indian Cheif tomb. It was an amazing view.
