Great local ice cream, worth a small queue. Can but freezer packs to take home and lots if different nice cones. Clotted cream on top a must!

Best vanilla ice cream I’ve ever had. Simple little van but I don’t remember ever having ice cream that good. Ignore the lollies, get the real stuff.

The nicest ice cream! We overheard a family talking about this ice cream whilst having a meal in the New Inn in Goodleigh and had to come and try! Wow, how nice. We had ice cream with clotted cream on top and it was delicious! I can’t wait to be back in a a few weeks!

Hocking's is a must when visiting Devon! Each time we visit we make sure we get an ice cream from one of these vans! We visited Devon recently and were sad that the factory was closed as it's off season!

Expensive and over-rated ice cream. Staff not happy for you to pay by cash. Want you to pay by card.

A really cool old school ice cream van that was parked in the centre of Appledor along the beach front. Very nice ice cream too.

This is a must if you’re visiting appledore. Icecream is amazing! Van is parked up along the seafront. With plenty of benches around to use. Highly recommend Icecream with honeycomb cornet

Delicious ice cream. Had one yesterday and today! Yesterday at Westward Ho! had a flavoured scoop!!
Was very disappointed earlier when walking to Appledore from Westward Ho! to spot in the distance what I took to be an ice cream van which on closed inspection turned out to be a camper van!! 😩. Luckily one on The Quay at Appledore arrival though!!

A visit to North Devon is not done properly if you have not eaten your own body weight in these fabulous ice cream.
It adds a moment of sanity to your life!
As an ex local getting one brings tears to my eyes. It is my childhood happy place.
Iconic models of the vans are available.
They feature in Anne Cleeve books too!

Hi - how did you manage to travel with the ice cream? I live in leeds now and have been trying for years! just last weekend I had 2 freezer tubs (chocolate and salted caramel), wrapped them in bubble wrap, placed a bag of ice on top and put all of them in a cooler bag.. but they were all melted when we arrived in leeds 6 hours later. i still put them in the freezer tho and will try to eat it tonight and see... hopefully it won't give me a tummy ache
