We left Stoos on a hike to climb to the Fronalpstock. The view is breathtaking no matter which way we look. The climb was difficult for me and my cousin who are in moderate shape. It was easier for our men and my teenage son. The climb is often steep; it does not necessarily appear in the photos because the landscape is so vast, but it is. However, the path is not rough, so it makes things easier. Crossing cows on the way adds to the experience: it's really nice! Personally, I didn't make it to the top, but I was really proud of myself considering that most people go up to the top by chairlift and then walk back down. Of course, the descent is much easier. If the opportunity arose, I would do as most people do: I would reach the summit with a ski lift and then descend on foot.

We ended our Stoos Ridge hike here. Nice to have a restaurant for a refreshing drink after a challenging hike. Amazing views of the lake and valley below. Even a nice play area for the kids. A great place to visit, even if not hiking the area.

Amazing views along the 3.5 km ridge hike from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock. Well worth it! However, it got very crowded which kind of distracted from the scenery! Last 500 meters were all up hill! Recommend getting up early and be the first ones on the lift to the top! Take lots of water in your backpack!

Firstly take the worlds steepest venicular from Schwyz up to Stoos and then the two chairlifts up to the summit. If you are fit and have time you can do the ridge trail from Klingenstock and hike approx 2 hours to the summit. The views from the top are spectacular to say the least and to be honest some of the best views I have ever experienced from atop of a mountain top. The views over look several lakes, across to many glaciers and many peaks in a 360 degree panorama. Incredible and most well worth the money to get up there.

The experience was amazing. We went up to Klingenstock in the morning and then hiked to Fronalpstock. The sun was shining from behind of us, so it was more pleasant to hike and look around. If you want to eat there, it is cheaper to do it up on Fronalpstock compared to restaurants in Stoos. Take with you enough water to drink, as well as sun protection on clear days (there are webcams where you can check the weather and visibility conditions on top of the mountain).

Took funicular and chair lifts all the way to the top and the views were fantastic. We enjoyed the area so much and wished we could spend a few days there.

A successful summit experience full of surprises: a room you would never expect and with very comfortable beds. For dinner there were even fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked. Very friendly and courteous service and the unique view, even in rain on the first day. In the morning the mountain belonged to us alone - wonderful🤗

Took the chair lift up and took in the sights from the viewpoints and took some wonderful photos. After lunch at the restaurant we hiked down. It was a wonderful day.

Hello, we are staying at the hotel on Fronalpstock. Is it very expensive to go up and down the mountain using cable car and funicular? If it is I may reduce my stay. Thanks!

Hello! Does anyone know if Fronalpstock/stoos crest hike area is open mid may? I've read conflicting things online and can't seem to figure out if the cable cars/chair lifts are running? Or can I access without these?
Any info helps!!

Hi! When we went last May, we took the new funicular up, but the chair lifts were not running in May because we were told around that time they stop running for maintenance in between Winter ski months/summer. So May they are not usually operating. We hiked to the top regardless - and was totally worth it!

To get to the new Stoos Bahn from Lucerne, it would seem that the best way to do so is to take the train to Schwyz then a bus for the final bit. Is this correct, or is there a better way to do this? Also, do I need to reserve the bus or just reserve the train and then catch the next bus once we arrive?
