Plenty to see, read and listen to if you download the audio. It is worth walking around the rooms and up the stairs. Free to NT members and within easy walking distance of the castle.

No need to pay to see, if you follow the path around the site, it still gives you the ability to see the priory but without the danger of the building collapsing on you, (although work is under way to secure the falling rocks,) plus is a large field to walk your dogs in.

Having visited the Castle ( which is free ) and been most impressed we were a little surprised to see the entrance fee for the Priory. To be fair, the remains are impressive and it makes a visit to the village well worth while.

If you enjoy it check out Castle Rising nearby.

Sadly my partner has a walking disability which necessitates her using a wheel chair, it was heavy going trying to push her across the grass and the hill coming back up, however that did not detract form our enjoyment. We were very lucky when we visited with lovely spring like weather. The ruins of the Priory are substantial and a very well kept. Well worth a visit.

I have many fond memories of Castle Acre Priory from my student days, and that memory hadn’t failed me. The site is still as peaceful and atmospheric as ever.

Although we parked in the pretty village and walked the short distance to the Priory, there was an ample car park at the site. The small shop come entrance was well stocked with items to suit all pockets and tended by helpful and welcoming staff.
Once through the short display area summarising the development and design of Castle Acre Priory there is a short sloping path to the ruins themselves. However, apart from this the rest of the well maintained grounds are relatively flat.
The ruins and structures are stunning and the provided leaflets clearly help you to appreciate the changes and developments over time – I also found the children’s trail fun to follow as it provided a structure to my exploring. Some areas are more complete than others such as the impressive west front and prior's lodgings, the latter of which clearly show the marked difference between the simple life of the monk and the ostentatious luxury of the prior!!
Castle Acre Priory is definitely worth a visit and I hope to return again one day!

We paid the fee to EH to go in and it was well worth it on a sunny day. Took in our picnic too. Their new loo block was very clean (free to anyone in the village too)

On arrival the car park was very full, with awful faded likes so most people are parking not inside the lines making it hard to park. Its a very small car park and i do feel sorry for the villagers as i would imagine at peak summer the parking in their village will be a nightmare.
In a now covid world there was a massive congregarion at the front door, it didnt seem the staff was trying to move people along at all. I was uneasy with how it was dealt with at the start however once through into the grounds its easy to stay away from people. The staff said there was an that audio you can get on your phone but the only qr reader for this was at the beginning there was no reminders of the qr reader anywhere else inside the site. This should be posted and shown everywhere really. The site itself is very beautiful has about 6 picnic benches quite large ones so definately worth doing a picnic.
It was on the pricy range even booking online early over £8pp and considering not loads there does seem a bit steep in my opinion especially as you can view from the road / field next to the site.
Overall i think they should lower their prices to make it more affordable in my opinion. There are 3 rooms you can go into dont miss these, very narrow stairs though. Toilets are the very beginning outside the site. There is no cafe feel like they're missing a trick there. Good thing is once you pass your arrival time you can come and go as you please.

Absolutely brilliant. The monasteries in England being mostly rubble, having a side that is so highly decorated and preserved is just something else to see.

Plenty of history to walk around and just soak up. Support English Heritage and please go see this, it's England's history!

What an amazing place! The west wall of the priory was magnificent, the gargoyles still intact and creepy.
The priors lodgings were the highlight, seeing how much luxury he lived in compared to the monks.
Highly recommendwd, very atmospheric.
