地震後から平成15年ごろまで使用していた小学校が資料館になっていました。スペースの問題もあると思いますが、古のものから割と最近のものまで所せましと展示されています。ブーニンさんからピアノが贈られた小学校だったことをはじめて知りました。（今は奥尻小学校に置いてあるそうです）

Wonderful information about the island's rich culture and history

This museum is unassuming, with little signage or advertising, which makes it that much more interesting when you happen upon the reconstructed Ainu house that sits in it's lawn. It sets the tone for the interactive experiences waiting inside. The museum is full of artifacts and exhibits detailing at least the last 8000 years of human and natural history on the island - and there is a lot of it! The friendly curator is eager share his knowledge and practice his English, and he even hosts workshops to create your own magatama (the island's most famous artifact, a comma-shaped bead). The museum is absolutely worth a visit and will help add context and culture to a trip to Okushiri. As of 2018 the museum was only open in the summer season.
