We stopped on the way to Nagaoka Fireworks, connecting the ropeway and lift to Tenjintoge Observatory. It's 3,500 yen for a set.
From the observatory, I could see Tanigawa-dake Mountain and the surrounding mountains up close.
Many people were climbing to the summit of Tanigawa-dake from here.
From the ropeway boarding area below, you can reach Ichinokurazawa.
Many people went on foot because cars are closed to traffic, but renting an electric bike was powerful and made it very easy and quick.
It was 2,000 yen (90 minutes) by online Reservation from 9, 11 and 13:00, and the sightseeing took about an hour in total.
To me, the view from Ichinokurazawa seemed nicer than the view from the observatory.
I'll upload photos of both.

We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed the beautiful views of Mt. Tanigawa. From the ropeway we then transferred to a two-seater lift to go up. I would definitely recommend this lift to anyone with good weather who is OK with taking the lift down.
There were lovely dogtooth violets blooming at the base of the lift.

The autumn leaves were in full bloom and the weather was good, so we were able to see a wonderful view.
After getting off the ropeway, we changed to a lift and the view from the top was also amazing.
The bottom of the lift might satisfy people with a fear of heights. It felt like we were being sucked into the world below, and it was a little scary.

It's been a while since I last visited Mt. Tanigawa. It's a place I love.
I've been here a few times in the past, but this was my first time in midsummer.
It was amazing~~It feels so good in the summer too❣️
I love the sea, but the mountains are great too. Such a magnificent view.
Thanks to the ropeway❗️Thanks to the staff‼️
It was completely different from the world below.
There were foreign tourists there too.
There are many anecdotes about it, but I love Mt. Tanigawa❣️I'm glad I was able to come.
I'd love to come again. Thank you

The cable car will take you up the mountain and the chairlift will send you further up after the cable car ride. Take note the chairlift fee is not included in the cable car ride ticket. It is optional and purchase separately.

We took the rope way to access the ski resort. A fascinating view of very steep terrain. Along with skiers and foot tourist were many snowshoers and hikers.

It was a great climb but would have wanted to know how difficult it was from the start.
And we didn't even climb from the foot of the mountain. We started from the rope way.
Ppl we asked were the guy from our hostel, a guide and two ppl at tourist info. They all said it took around 1-1.5h to climb but no mention about how steep and physically exhausting it was 50% of the road!
All and all it was a fun climb and definitely worth the shacking legs when you reach the top. But have a good rest before you climb down.
Have sticks with you to save you knees down hill.
If climbing in November like we did, have warm beverages with you cause it gets cold on the top.
Either have a good meal before the climb or/and have a snack you can have reaching the top.
We hade hot tea and some bread but that's because we are a very- bad -prepared -couple.
Ppl around us had stoves and real food with them!

ロープウェイで気楽に高山を楽しめます。
しかし 道がぬかるんでいたり 滑りやすい岩があるので 出きれば しっかり目の靴で。
可憐な高山植物が沢山見れます。

晴れた日に紅葉をご覧になるなら、朝は南側の斜面が日陰になりますので11時くらいがおすすめです。
なお一ノ倉沢は日差しが順光になる朝がおすすめです。
また天気の良い土日祝日は15時以降登山のお客様の下山と重なり下りのご利用に30分以上かかる場合がありますので、時間には余裕をもってご来訪ください。

I will be visiting in late October. I will take the ropeway and plan to visit ichinokurosawa as well.
Is it possible to drive (I'll rent a car) from the ropeway station to ichinokurosawa?

Hi,thank you for your inquiry.
Tanigawa-dake base of the ropeway platform and Ichinokurasawa is shut down every year due to bad road surface.
Access to ichinokurasawa will be on foot (50 minutes for one way) or bus operated by Minakami-town (500 yen for one way).
However, please note that the bus is one in one hour, and the capacity is as small as eight people.
It is a road that can be walked even with sneakers, full pavement paved.

From Minakami Station you can come to Tanigawadake Ropeway by Kannetsu Transportation Company's bus route
For details, please visit Kannetsu Transportation Company's website（I'm sorry but Japanese website）
The bus stop number is JT 21 at Minakami Station and JT 21 Tanigawa Mt. Ropeway is JT 27.
