Located in Yoshino-Kumano National Park, Hashiguiiwa is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument.
The view of over 40 large and small rock pillars lined up in a row of about 850m in the sea is simply breathtaking.
Ocean erosion has left only the hard parts of the rock, making it look as if only the bridge piles are standing. Historically, Hashiguiiwa is recorded as a legend in which Kobo Daishi and Amanojaku made a bet that they could build a bridge in one night, and they did so in one night.
It's amazing to see the beauty of nature created by the power of nature over a long period of time right before your eyes!

Amazing rock formations right on the Pacific Ocean, great if you like photography and interested in geology! Great stop, for an icecream as well!

You can clearly see it if you pass the national highway along the coastline, but from the Kisei Line, which is supposed to run parallel to it, the buildings along the national highway obstruct the view, so you can barely see it from some sections. Even so, the strangely shaped rocks towering over the coast stood out and became one of Kushimoto's tourist attractions.

Located in the southern part of Wakayama, there are upright rocks of various sizes lined up for about 800 meters. The sight of the rocks lined up in a straight line is magnificent. At low tide, you can enter the sea and go right up to the rocks. In the early morning, you can see the beautiful sunrise rising from Hashigui Rock.

JRの車窓からは何回も見たことがありますが、今回はじめて現地を訪問して直接眺めることができました。現地でみるとなかなかの迫力で見ごたえがありました。
訪れた時間は引き潮だったので岩々の間に海水はありませんでした。次回は是非満ち潮の時に訪れてみたいです。

ホテルから太地町に行く途中に立寄り。弘法大師と天の邪鬼との橋をかける伝説あり。思っていたより見応えあり。

海岸線で大小40余りの奇岩が一直線にそそり立っています。潮が引いていたので岩の下まで行くことができました。なお、道の駅２階の展望デッキから眺めは、不思議な光景でインパクトがあります。

かつては、あまり有名ではなかった橋杭岩。今は、素敵な写真が拡散して、人気が急上昇しました。
日の出、夕方、夜のライトアップなど素敵な風景ショットも撮れます。満潮時と干潮時は全く違う雰囲気なので、旅行中に何度か訪れるスローな楽しみ方がお勧めです。荒波の中と奇岩のショットや、引き潮の海岸を大岩近くまで近寄って、迫力あるショットを撮影できます。
国道沿いの第一駐車場が満車の場合には、隣接する第二駐車場もありますので、諦めないで。

About one hour distance from Shirahama. Natural rock sharp is unique and distribute every where. You can walk close to the rocks to take photos. Visitors must stop to this points if you pass through Kushimoto.

８月に「本州最南端の道の駅 くしもと橋杭岩」から橋杭岩を眺めました。道の駅の通常の駐車場が満車で２００メートルほど離れた臨時駐車場に駐車しました。正午頃に訪問したのですが、潮が引いていたので道の駅から下のビーチに降りて岩まで歩いていくことが出来ました。
道の駅には幾つかの飲食店がありました。ソフトクリームがお勧めです。
